Okay, this has been plaguing me for lo, these many months and I have never been able to figure it out. Now, I am trying to solve my dilemma with the ^&$%#&!! SimFlyers KLAS & KPHX scenery and it seems like the problem is somewhere in an AFCAD.....or something.
So, here's the question: Wot de hall is an AFCAD file. Where in FS9 do you find them and what's the difference between an AFCAD file and a .bgl?
Please treat me like I have the IQ of Peat Moss and maybe I'll get it. |

Firstly, the most important utilities are :
afcad221.zip
ttools.zip
Both of these are available in the Surclaro library, you will need Afcad2, to examin any afcad file.
While you are about it, you may as well download ttools as well.
Secondly, you dont make clear what your problem is, you say it's an Afcad problem, what makes you think that ?

Well, because of what happens using the scenery. If I go along a runway, or a taxiway, it's just like you'd take your plane and run it across regular ground; the plane bounces up and down (yes, all planes), finally slamming the nose wheel audibly. You can't maintain a steady speed and etc. I have read forum after forum (the SimFlyers forums are all deceased but are still readable) and posted the problem on this and other forums....to no avail....and the best answer I can come up with so far is that it's something to do with the AFCAD.
I still don't know what an AFCAD is or how it is different from a .bgl or how you use it. I still got a lot to learn.....it never seems to stop. |

Bear with me while I check these two locations out......... KLAS & KPHX. I assume that we are talking about FS2004 and not FSX

OK, Checked out both Airports, KLAS McCarran Intl & KPHX Phoenix Sky Hatbour Intl. Both are ok, steady clean take off from both of them.
Checked out the Afcads, not that they will give you the problem you are on about, niether will the bgl files........
Have you introduced any addons ?.
Give us a little more info.... what aircraft are you using, default, or an addon, more details will give us more of a clue what to look for.
Dont get rattled........ we will get to the bottom of it.

Yes, I have several addons, both scenery and planes but not many at the time I installed the scenery.

In the second post I said it does it on all planes. That was something I looked for fairly quickly in order to eliminate the plane I fly regularly as a cause of the annoyance.

OK, the addon scenery you have, where did you place it, it should go into the addon scenery folder, and then you should have activated it within flight sim. If this is the case, try de-activating it within the addon scenery selection, and see if you still have the same problem.
Any bgl files that came with it, should have gone into addon scenery/scenery folder.
You still have not confirmed this is 2004
Get back to me.

| The AFCAD file commonly named AF2_(ICAO name).bgl is usually placed in the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. It contains the runway, taxiway and parking assignments along with the paths that connect them together. If the runway or taxiway elevation is too low or too high, you will have problems such as the one you describe. If you have two afcads for the location, they can create an afcad conflict, sometimes bad enough to cause a crash to desktop. If you have an AI package that includes an afcad for those airports, they may be the source of conflict with your simflyers afcads. Some addons keep their afcads in the particular areas addon scenery/scenery folder and you may therefore overlook them. I use a utility called ScanAFD to root out afcad problems and straighten them out. |

Oh yes, it's FS9 allright.
The rest of what you posted there I am going to have to look at. There may be a conflict somewhere and finding it is going to be a lotta fun and probably time consuming as well so I will have to devote a weekend day to it.

I would just love to know where you got this utility so the happiness of going there and glomming it could be mine. |
