I hope this is the right place for this post
It says Right-click an unallocated region of a basic disk, and then click New Partition. But I can't figure out its talking about. I want to a make a new 5 GB partition on my second MBR hard disk. |

| Is this part of Windows? If I wanted to partition something, I'd prefer not to do it through the OS or a program that runs on the OS. |

Why would you ever want to make such a small partition? 8) 8)
According to an article that I read about three weeks ago, they suggest that we do "not" create additional partitions. This is because for each partition that we create, we add 10% overhead. Each new partition is located towards the inner track which creates additional override for the Read/Write Head to move back and forth.
Therefore, I now have my Windows OS and my Flight Simulator located on Drive C and I use a special Software (Ultimate Defrag--see link below) that allows me to locate specific folders near the outer tracks.

| The new partition is for storage of backup files I do not need porformance just a highly protected place that I can keep blocked off from the rest of the computer. The recovery program that came with PC is a pain use for backing up this data on a weekly basis. The main perpos of the second drive in the first place is storage. All my programs that demand alot of speed run very very well on the main drive I am at the limits of there quality settings. |
