What are your favorite [default] scenery areas, airports in FS9?
At present, mine happens to be St. Maarten and surrounding islands.
Airport: Princess Juliana (TNCM).

Cool, I've never done the St. Maarten thing and now I'll have to go have a look, thanks.
I know I'll think of more to chime in with but for now I'll say that I really enjoy the well done dense cities. Microsoft 'ACES' did a pretty nice job of Chicago, and it's always a buzz to zoom around between her skyscrapers in a futuristic aircraft at night! 8) |

Hey Hark,
Thanks for ringing in. Surely you've seen (real life) posted pics of 737's landing at TNCM with sunbathers on the beach at the end of the runway?
Can anyone conjure a link to one or two of these famous real life photos to give Hark the real feel?
The whole St. Maarten thing is really cool for helicopter enthusiasts, because there are so many nearby islands to discover; all within easy reach of 'copters and equally fun with fixed wing.
A definite "Must Do" island hopper with the [default] Piper J-3 Cub!
There is literally no end to the Islands in this region. Use your Map Function and you'll see what I mean.
Anyone else care to ring in?

Right on, I have seen pictures of that in real life, and I've seen all kinds of FS9 scenery add-on screenies in the past too, but didn't ever realize that it was St. Maarten. I'm definitely going to be flying around a bit tonight and look forward to some island hopping.
Have to admit that I've taken countless trips down FS9's default Vegas Strip too, and that int'l Airport is really nicely done, especially the night lighting. I like to zoom around vegas' endless urban sprawl and then head over to the dam.
In Hong Kong, heading into the bay that held Kai Tak, the now defunct airport, and following the roads and the big new bridge towards that new Big-assed 'Airport On A Man-Made Island' is always a buzz. (I forget what that airport is called. D'oh! )
Try taking off from the small airstrip that is the Banff Airport in Alberta, and following a few rivers for a bit of a relax.
There's a default flight towards Mount Mckinley in alaska that's pretty sweet, especially with a real glowy, ambient sunset lighting the peaks...tremendous fun to build up some height as you travel toward the mountain, sail over it then follow some crevasses down to the fairly diversely rendered valley floors. |

´Take a little bush-plane out of 21W and enjoy the very beautiful mountain area. And there isn't that long to KSEA from there.
Also, you should try to jump in on a little field in the Grand Canyons! Very nice scenery experience there. However you can also try it with a fighter cause' it's really cool to do some low-flying down the canyons. |
