Well, im playing around in Anim8r just to kind of goof off and see what i can come up with, before i tackle the Back to the Furture Delorean ( :? )
and this is what i have created so far. I have yet to import it into gmax, or get some other file that i have yet to figure out what i need yet..... im trying to study (thanks to HARKONNEN :!: :!: :!: ) and play around at the same time for the time being.
GS, RD, Hark,... what do you think... yeah i know it is CHILDISH, but its what i could think of at the moment that was simple geometry (god i hated that class back in HS and here it is I "need" it to build a @#$% car!!! UGH!! )
I call this little do-dad.... LITTLE PINK WAGGON... (tires are just black spheres for the time being)
edit:: in anim8r, how do you get the 4 views like in GMAX?? top, front, "side", perspective??? if i could have the 4 views like in GMAX, then it would make modeling a hell of a lot easier.... i could work in 3-4 dimensions instead of 1 and having to rotate and twist it just to get to where i can see where i want to put something properly. |

Betcha a stale donut that you figured it out before I posted this.
EDIT: I'm awful lazy now, worked until 4 am - on the weekend I'll post up a nice Anim8or screenie with pointers to all the goodies. I have good tips too, save you some WTF? moments. Car modelling tutes around the net, too - some Anim8or specific.
I like your wagon.
A Delorean is a wicked choice to go for, not too curvy, but sleek as hell.
When the time comes we'll chat about spinning tires and retractable tires and flap animations....serious fun - not really hard to do at all.
Please consider continuing to pursue the SDK setup, and the MakeMDL plugin placement. It's all a little different once you've gotten even the simplest thing into FS to fly around. Get your exports working around the same time you're getting all razzle-dazzled by the fun in Anim8or and somehow the spark is greater, your aircraft possibilities closer. And of course, a lot of your free time gets eaten up, but it's so much better than T.V. :) |

| ok i found the VIEW > ALL... and it will give me the 4 quadrants... but in your s/s it "tells" you what view it is (like gmax)... any way to get it to TELL you what view it is???? im sure you can imagine that after just 1 hour of trying to build my simple yet complicated pink wagon that you will start to forget what view is what. |

Go to 'File' in the top toolbar, click 'Configure GUI' and make sure 'Show Labels' is ticked...gives you the display that you are talking about.
My newbie tip of the evening; Don't get in the habit of moving a model around to look at it or work on it. In Anim8or there is a button up top that when depressed allows you to rotate any view by left clicking and dragging, or pan it by right clicking and dragging....then 'View/Reset' puts the view back straight-on when you need it. |

Jeez, you make it sound so darn easy. :D
Stay with Hark on this one Chris. You'll either be glad you did, or wished you didn't. But hey, it's all fun-n-games, untill it crashes.....Right???

Do you have the link for the Anim8or Manual?
http://www.anim8or.com/manual/index.html
I believe the same entire document is available as a .PDF. from the Anim8or downloads. |
