| Hi Guy's. How is the runway length calculated for landing and take-off distances and where in FS9 can the lengths be found for all aircraft . Or alternatively what is the rule of thumb. BP |

Usually it is thus
A big heavy plane ---LONG Runway
A small light plane---SHORT Runway
Of course I am being scarastic here, but let me get serious
Manufactures of A/C in there design specs give tons of information relating to T/O runway lengths
Much information relates to Airport altitude--Temperture at time of T/O --density and of course wind direction and speed
They have charts dealing with all this and it must be followed to achieve a safe T/O
They give T/O distance to clear a 50 foot obstacle and much other info in there handbooks
I have not explored this T/O distance issue, however, I do believe if you GOOGLE a specific A/C type and ask for Specs of this A/C you will find a TON of information dealing with this subject
Happy Flying :D |

A lot of information can be found on many different airframes here too...

Enjoy :)
Edit... I didn't answer your question BP, sorry.

If the airplane you are flying came with a knee board/checklist file it may be contained in this file. Some aircraft do not have these though. |

| A lot of it has to do with the thrust to weight ratio as well. I have routinely seen FedEx Airbus A300-B4-605R's taking off and landing in Baton Rouge using only two thirds the amount of runway that the much smaller Canadair Regional Jets use at that same airport. |

Hi Guys ,Found a few aircraft Runway lengths to use for practical purposes ,from these examples it is no wonder that I ran off the end of the runway at Reykavic,Iceland .[BIRK] and into the sea when landing a heavy four engined aircraft. BP
