I have been using the Garmin G1000 GPS for my last couple of flights. I have become very frustrated about not being able to determine which Autopilot settings are active. I was unable to find a way to display the Autopilot window.

Last week, I purchased a fantastic book from PC AVIATOR called "GLASS SIMMING GARMIN 1000--How to use the Garmin 1000 Glass Cockpit in Microsoft Flight Simulator X" by Bill Stack. This is a fantastic book for a reasonable price.

Here is a trick that I was unable to find prior to reading Bill's book (I don't even know if this trick is discussed in the Microsoft FS Learning Center).

If you want to display the AUTOPILOT WINDOW, you need to depress the following keys:

SHIFT + 2
This is the number 2 that appears at the top of the keyboard. I don't know if this will work with the numberic keyboard. I was so excited about sharing this information with you that I forgot to test the numeric keyboard. 8) 8)

Does that come with an installation manual for the G1000? I could really use one of those, real life.

Over the past several weeks of Civil Air Patrol Meetings, Pete Crawford presented four segments of the Garmin 1000 class that he attended. Pete did an excellent job and was able to increase my interest in using the Garmin 1000.

About a year ago, while talking to my friend Daron (Avionics Technician) at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, Florida, he gave me a large white manual which covers all of the features of the Garmin 1000.

If you are truly interested in learning about the real Garmin 1000, you may wish to review the following course which is sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol. GOOD LUCK. I hope that non CAP people will be able to access this website. 8) 8)

I was sort of kidding... I know what is available via Garmin's website and it isn't an installation manual. The info on Garmin's site is good, just not what I'm after from an installation frame of mind.
