I would like to add Hi Def cable TV to my (Home Premium) Vista PC [Please reference my sig file]. I doubt very much that I am going to purchase a new Hi-Def TV anytime soon. I've got a nice 24" monitor that may have to serve as my primary TV source as well as gaming and video editing.
My actual needs go a bit deeper, and of course I'm in way over my head on this topic. Any help or advice will be most appreciated.
You should know that I don't presently subscribe to Hi Def channels on my current cable TV subscription, but I definitely want to be capable and ready to go pure digital on my Vista (Home Premium) based PC.
I am so out of my league on this one that I don't know my top from my bottom. That's why you're reading this and perhaps you can interject some guidance or help. My wishes are thus:
1. A Tuner Card capable of receiving Analog & Digital Cable TV to PC.
2. DVR capability (pause programming--go fix dinner for myself--come back and resume viewing the baseball game where I left off).
3. Absolute ability to burn to DVD my favorite TV programs and TV movies. Call it archiving. This could be probably a problem area, I suspect.
4. Picture-in-picture view switching.
5. Cable ready Remote control device
6. Record one program while watching another.
What possible features am I forgetting?
God Bless!

| I don't know about the whole HD part, but I can say that you want to stay away from ATI tuners. The software that comes with them is not the greatest, I had to reinstall it almost everyday to get it to work properly. I eventually found DScaler, but that doesn't have all too many features (especially for what you want). |
