| I'm building an airport in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and I need something that can modify the terrain shape and type. The airport looks funny when it's floating on top of the water. |

I can have a look around for a few utilities that may allow you to add terrain to a water body in FS. In the meantime, you might as well get familiar with the 'Scenery Hall Of Fame' website, and their design utilities pages, that's where I hunt around for stuff like this when someone asks.
Someone else here may have some better info for you though, stay tuned. |

| No. It's a fictional airport that's near the equator. |

Tough room... See the humor?
I'm going to go out on a limb because I know nothing of modifying the FS environment.
BUT, is there a way to modify the mesh of the area? I mean just zing up the "Z" axis of the mesh and Bob's your Uncle, but only if you have a uncle named Bob and you know what "zing" means... |

This might be a program to grab and look at. It's one of the first bunch on the first of SHOF's Design Utilities pages. Right underneath that file is one for making beaches and coastlines, etc.
..from the description for the first file referred to:
" AutoAsm is a program that creates LWM polygons (water or land) and VTP lines (roads, streams etc), as well as other scenery objects for use in FS2002 and FS2004. The input data is always in the form of a colour bitmap, though several data formats can be imported and converted to suitable bitmaps. The following scenery objects can be created:
· LWM polygons for water or land.
· VTP lines for roads, streams, railways etc.
· VTP areas.
· Terrain mesh.
· Landclass.
· Objects such as trees or buildings linked to VTP lines (similar to vector autogen).
Many thanks to Jim Keir who gave me permission to include LWMViewer in the package. LWMViewer is a perfect companion to LWM/VTP creation programs. AutoAsm includes an LWMViewer button. After creating your new LWM/VTP scenery bgl’s, click on the button to open LWMViewer and view your scenery. If there are any problems with your input data it will be immediately apparent!
Note: Apart from a few minor fixes, the major new feature (for v1.0) is support for dynamic objects. You can now add ground traffic moving along roads as well as moving ships and flying aircraft. You can also add moving trains.

| You sent me hunting all over the website and I found nothing. Can't you just send me a link? |

You must be able to navigate a website from the home page...it usually involves scanning the page for an index of some sort. I referred you to the design section of the site, accessible from the home page. Find 'Design Utilities', there's 5 pages but instead of 1 thru 5 it's A thru E. Crap, the design apps I pointed out are among the first 5 or 6 on page A.
Unfortunately, due to your inability to navigate a website chock full of the information you requested (especially after I even gave you the application file name), my confidence that you would even be able to follow the application's instructions has disappeared, and you will have to enlist 'linky' hand holding from someone else.
Geez, if I needed a link from someone for all of the utilities and tutorials I've needed to play with developing add-ons I would still be looking for help installing gmax, forget about even figuring out how to use it. |

| Well, it might help if you tell me wether it's actually at the surclaro website. If you expect me to know all of the flight simulation websites out there, I only know of two others than this one. simviation and the microsoft website. |

There are about 6 words or phrases in Harks post that would get hits in a search engine. |

O.K. ..maybe I wasn't clear on the location and proper name of the website featuring all these design utility goodies. It's the 'Scenery Hall Of Fame'!
On the LEFT side of the HOME page is a list of what sections are offered. One of those titles says Scenery Design', or something close to that, it'll be obvious. Once you click on that, on the TOP RIGHT side of the page you'll see DESIGN UTILITIES. Once you click on that there are 5 pages of DESIGN UTILITIES, called page 'A' thru 'D'. First page of the alphabetically listed design apps has a program or two that may be of use. I haven't a clue why you would be browsing SurClaro's add-on pages when I did direct you to the 'SHOF'. Gawd, even I know it doesn't mean 'Squiffy's House Of Fun' when looking at Google results for 'SHOF'. Glad to be of help. |

| Ok, thanks for the site name. I'm used to modding NASCAR simulators and I'm new to modding flight simulators so give me a break if I don't know some things about modding flight simulations. |

Look at it this way....
What you know about modding the NASCAR set, we don't... How many questions do you get a week for mods to this of that?
Same question different sim. Not trying to hack you off, just explaining.
 |
