Flying with the Garmin GPS 500 System .In FS9.
I have set up the flight from KSEA to KGEG, flying the Lear jet as shown in the tutorial and everything is OK until pressing the D arrow where the "Re-input of waypoint data ",screen shows . There is the flashing green block after pressing the small knob but I cannot type in the destination airport ICAO [KGEG] Can anyone explain how to acheive this . Thanks.Boldpilot

You dont "type" it in. Using the inner and outer ring adjustment knobs in the lower right hand corner you select a letter/number and or the character position. As you hover your mouse over the knobs you will see the + and - symbols appear indicating the direction of adjustment. Once you have done it a few times it becomes second nature.

I think it was the small arrows, click on the right small arrow when you get to the box with _ _ _ _ highlighted in green.
Then type in the ICAO, seems easier and faster that way.

Have you seen this article by Doug Horton? We often writes articles for Computer Pilot Magazine. I realize that your question pertains to FS9 and the Garmin 500. However, you will find this to be an interesting article.

Groundsquirrel:

Who me?????????????

Are you still making appearance around town showing off your fancy wardrobe?

I am the one on the left side of this picture with the normal set of cloths. Groundsquirrel is the one on the right with the "other" set of clothes.

That is the way I wrote it, I think... Yep... Quote: Figure 14, Click the small knob on the right side with the mouse and it will change to an input field. At this point you just type in the ICAO code of the airport, since ours is KGEG ours is going to look like what is shown in Figure 14. The input field will still have a flashing green cursor block in it. this is on page 17. Quote: Figure 15, Click on the “ENT” button once and the airport ICAO highlights and begins flashing; this is a system prompt that is asking you if you are sure this is the information you really what you want programmed into the GPS. this is on page 18.
After you click the right "small arrow" on the inner knob it will give a single space flashing green block, type in the ICAO, IE: KGEG and then follow the remainder of the steps.
