The Teamspeak we've used was for our Maddie/Hinson flights and other discussions usually, but our main server run by Mark (heeshung) is down.

My server is the backup...

I think sometimes some of us meet there on the weekends.

(Mel or RD: I need to know whether you need the server up this weekend)

if you are running the TS ( TeamSpeak ) Client you can only connect to 1 server at a time. (like the muliplayer of Flight Sim) ..... BUT there could be up to 300 people on that server depending on your choice of teamspeaks.

now... if you have the SERVER installed as well...... YOU will connect to YOUR server using the ip address 127.0.0.1 where as, everyone else that is not at your house that wants to connect to your server will use your "external ip address" ( it is NOT 127.0.0.1, or 192.168.2.x )

To find out what your external Ip address is, go to whatsmyip.us. you will also have to tell them the port number (it is usually :8767)

if you need any help setting anything up, just PM me as I have run my own VA for about a year, as well as hosted the STEVE HINSON MEMORIAL TEAMSPEAK for a while. I have the server AND and client versions on my laptop and i also have a good amount of other VAs / Teamspeak IPs saved to my connection list.

Also, if you're using Windows Vista, do NOT connect to domain names. Instead, connect to the IP address.

Ex.
Tfish's server
DO NOT USE terrychen-ts.ath.cx:8767
Instead: 76.183.90.92:8767

Hmm, so that was causing Bruce's problem?

Oh, and Propwash, I run my server on a headless Ubuntu server which should normally run 24/7 for 60+ days.

The only thing causing the non 24/7 now is the thermal paste

I connect to 192.168.0.140, for my server's local IP.

Otherwise, everyone else should use external IP.

Terry, unless RD or Bruce has a need, then if you need to take it down then thats fine....... hopefully, RD & Bruce will respond to this call also.

We can always ask Farmy to run his up for the weekend if need be.

Thanks

Mel.

Don't know if I'll be on or not. If I do, it will most likely be Farmys.

Do what you need to do Terry.

I'll probably take it down Friday afternoon for a few hours and then put it back up.

EDIT: I'll just do it now.

EDIT2: server started back up, I will leave it on for at least the next two weeks.

depending on where you live.... your local walmart sells stereo headsets / microphone for $20, and desk mic's for like $9.97.
