I have a 256mb 300mhz processor Niveda (however you spell it) card. I used to have a 64mb card. The 256 mb card is not that much better performing.
Any tips? |

| Here's the thing I read about nVidia graphics cards: They were feeding them steroids before the benchmark tests, and in that way dissapointed thousands of users, because the cards didn't do much good in practical use: games, 3D Modeling... |

What do you mean by 'not performing' Wackie? Is it slow? Graphics not clear or defined? Glitches...?
Lets see what we can do to fix it eh? Seen your screenshots...look pretty good to me...

| It's the frame rates. If I use detailed clouds than the frame rates go to poopoo |

| Are you using the new high frame rate clouds textures files? I have found that they make a measurable performance increase. |

GS is right...the detail cloud textures really hurt FPS.

I'm using a high frame rate clouds texture file. Which one are you talking about? |

Funny you should mention this....last night I installed/used coolbits 2.0.
My FX 5200 is giving me 25 FPS minimum.
I just got done doing a lOOOONG flight and was avg. 30.
It supposedly unleashes 25% hidden juice.
Search for coolbits or NVIDIA tweaks.
Did it in about 15 minutes...if I can pull this off, anyone can

| Coolbits does in fact work... BUT as with any tweeking or overclocking of any hardware... you CAN and PROBABLY WILL DAMAGE THE CARD! I had a technician at a shop tell me he could boost my NVidia GeForce FX5600 up to it's full potential... and it really did make a difference... until one night I was in my lear jet and the screen went all weird! The graphics were inverted... misplaced... overlayed... and missing... this is called video tearing and it is what happens when your video card is overclocked and that my friend is what Coolbits does... OVERCLOCK YOUR VIDEO's CPU!!! My advice... if you want screaming graphics... save your money and purchase the card that will do the trick... is it better to do that or throw out hard earned money on nice cards just to have to replace them because you want better performance for a cheaper price. I personally found that the newest NVidia Driver 61.77 just released boosted my FPS ( Frames Per Second ) up by almost 12... and that is just using the card with the natural drivers installed. If you have any other question about NVidia Cards... I will try to answer them if you need help. I have been using them every since VooDoo went out of buisiness and have loved each and every one of them. If you want killer graphics... purchase a NVidia 6800 Ultra ( Sticker Price about $589.00 ) but well worth every penny and even ATI cannot compete with it's benchmarks or performance... and most gamers prefer ATI in my area and the are switching to the new GeForce! |
