| I use a separate folder for my scenery so that i can remove the files if they aren't so good. Can place the AFCADS in this folder or do they have to be installed in their proper place?? |

If you want the Afcads to be current with what you have downlaoded, then yes, they have to be in the correct folder.

Mel:
Please correct me if I am wrong. I have a main folder called ADDON SCENERY. Within that Folder, I have three sub-folders:
SCENERY
TEXTURE
DANS ADDONS
...Within this folder, I have two subfolders where I store my downloads:
......Scenery
......Texture
Up until about a month ago, I created a seperate sub-folder within DANS ADDONS for each of my addons with a Scenery and Texture folder for each. However, I suspect that this contributed to my long load time. Therefore, I merged them into one folder instead.
As long as I have DANS ADDONS linked to my Scenery Library, there should not be any problems. 8) 8) |

Not having reinstalled FSX since my recent crash Skipper, I can't really check,.... if my memory serves me correct, and it's the same as FS9, then yes, detailed scenery can be in it's own folder, within the Addon Scenery folder, so long as you remember to add it, inside FlightSim Scenery Library, if it's just an Afcad, then I am certain it can go straight into Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. Thats the way I have always done it in FS9.
Someone is now gonna prove me wrong...

Thanks Mel:
That is what I was thinking. AFCADs can be added in either of the following two ways.
1. Added to the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder (which is already linked to the Scenery Library)
2. Added to the Addon Scenery/DansAddons/Scenery folder (once I link this to the Scenery Library, any future additions will automatically be linked).
NOTE:
For the past two months, I have been submitting digital pictures for Albert Whitted Airport to a fellow in North Carolina who is developing great graphics for my home airport. Since I drive to the airport for monthly EAA meetings and weekly CAP meetings, I have the opportunity to arrive early, walk around the airport and take pictures. We hope to have the graphics ready for FS9 and FSX shortly. I have created a seperate Addon Scenery Folder for this project because Jimmy provides me with frequent updates for my review. 8) 8)

Here is a small teaser:
Each building is properly labeled with the name of the hanger. Even the FBO (Bay Air and Bay Air Maintenance) are properly labeled. About three weeks ago, I received permission to take pictures around the Tower which has a private gate.
Can you tell the difference between my digital picture vs FSX??
Note: He even included the Cruise Ship which is located south of the airport.
If you read the sign, you will appreciate why we are very proud of our airport.8) 8)

Please take another look at the two pictures above. I deleted the one from FSX and replaced it with a close up from FSX.
Note: The attached pictures were taken during our annual hosting of the St. Petersburg Grand Prix Race. You can easily recognize the bulding in the background. The main straight-away is on runway 7/25.8) 8)
