When I try to download, using Star downloader, the download size is always 5kb rather than the actual file size.
Any ideas?
cheers, jocky. |

I have no idea what "Star downloader" is, can you supply a little more info ?.... Why cant you use the normal method of downloading files ?

It looks like it breaks the entire DL into smaller pieces, this may be why.

Good day gents,
Star Downloader is a download manager which breaks up the file into a number of parts. This can speed up the download.
I should explain further to my post was that only SurClaro is affected in this way, most other sites in MSFS Gateway are unaffected.
I onetime thought perhaps my login had not worked properly but it seems normal.
Cheers, Joe. |

| Usually when you are getting slow downloads, it is because you are using free access which is bandwidth limited. Some sites have no such limitations and some sites will have more or less bandwidth for free access. There is no reason to have to use a "downloader" unless you are also using a no frills browser to begin with. Both IE and FireFox have capable download features and you cant get a download any faster than the server and ISP are willing to give it up. |

Well groundsquirrel,
Thanks for your input but I have been using "Star" for years now and they say "what you know is what you do best"
I can achieve downloads at around 700kbs/sec so it is hardly slow.
I have previously downloaded from SurClaro with no difficulty so this is a new(for me) problem.
cheers. |

Do you have cookies allowed for Surclaro? If you have done a cleanup lately it's possible that permissions could have changed. Did you try the download again to see if it was something related to the net? If I think of any more salient questions that may assist in determining what has happened I will post back again.

Thats not quite right I use also such a program. But i use FlashGot instead..
90% of the downloads I 'can' get more tham 1m/bs or close,
and with Firefox i get maybe 100 kb/s on the same thing...
And I have a slow conection.
But this will not work always here at surclaro |
