|
|
Hi,
I have created models in Gmax . Sometimes I can add new parts or merge parts and they will export fine but sometimes they won't. I can combine the xmls information and make a bgl but to put it in the scenery the coordinates have to be entered for both parts which is fine unless you use Runway12 then it's a whole new universe.
I tried to find information on how to do it but could not find anything so I tried to do myself without any success. Is there anyone versed in this area that can tell me how to take 2 xml's amd make 1 xml to create a Bgl that when is selected in runway12 it will be the completed object and not 2 separate objects? Or does anyone know how to make Gmax work so you can make it export the parts togeather scince they will indivdually?...Is there someway to configure the program to do this?
Thanks,Tim |

| If all the parts/meshes are in one scene in gmax, and you select 'export', you should be able to have all of your stuff export, and have one .mdl file and one .xml file for that scene. Don't hit 'export selected' in gmax right? Just have nothing selected in your gmax scene, and export the whole thing. If that's not really your problem, then I think you can call multiple library objects through .XML files, but I'm a bit fuzzy on the whole process. Sorry I can't be much more help at this point. Keep us posted and I'll keep this in mind for a solution. |

Hi Harkonnen,
I think Gmax does what it wants sometimes like I can export an object with a full name but 1 won't but if you change the name it will...that doesn't make any sense. What do you mean by " call multiple library objects?" I saw a post once how to take the information from 2 xmls and creating a bgl but I think it was to install it outside of Runway12...I can install it manually that way for the ones that won't export normally but no one would want to go through that hassle. If you know how I can combine multiple xml information to creat a single bgl that could be installed by Runway12 or another program as a single object then email me the directions.
Thank you,

If you go here to the Scenery Hall of Fame's awesome 'Tutorials' section'
http://www.scenery.org/tutorials.htm ...almost two-thirds of the way down the page.
you will see these files in the 'Runway 12' section, where there is a whack of other 'scenery design relating to Runway 12' tutorials above them as well.
"Converting GMAX files to work with Rwy12 Object Placer:
This comprehensive, illustrated tutorial covers the following areas of interest:
· Exporting objects from Gmax
· Creating a library BGL
· Making the RWY12 files
· Placing in FS9
From: Stephen Legg rwy12_tutorial.zip (857kb)
How to create and upload a new Rwy12 Object Placer v1.2 library: Update 11/03/05
From: Seev Kahn & Israel Roth Rwy12_Create_library_tutorial.zip (411kb)"
...Uh, and emailing the goodies just to you sort of defeats the purpose of the info-sharing aspect of this board.
Hopefully you will find some answers among the tutes I described at the SHOF...the place is a goldmine of information. Best of luck. |
