| On a diagram I have it gives a NDB beacon and frequency near to the runways .Coming from the beacon are lines with CAT C&D and CAT A&B curving to the runway heading, can anyone tell me what is the Category meanings,?what do they refer to?.Thanks,BP. |

If I remember correctly, they are the "zones", which are mandated by altitude by an airport.
And that's about all I know of the subject. Cat I think is well knowledgeable concerning this.

Hi Guy's thanks for that .Enclosed diagram appears easy enough but I cannot work out the category's shown, IE. 078 degrees CAT A&B and 094 degrees CAT C?. Why the different circuit size ,is this for larger aircraft?.

Hi Guy's I have found what I was looking for .I hope you all comply with the following when on the approach???
Category A.
Aircraft approach less than 91 knots.
Category B
Aircraft approach speed 91 to 121 knots
Category C.
Aircraft approach speed 121 to 141 knots.
Category D
Aircraft approach speed 141 to 166 knots.
Category E
Aircraft approach speed 166 or more.

PS: Sunday, another officer from my Civil Air Patrol and I visited a local Flight Service Station at the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Airport (KPIE). This the South East facilitiy that includes parts of Central America. The supervisor spend about 45 minutes with us describing their facilities and how the staff use various computer screens to provide pilots with weather briefings. This was a fantastic learning experience. They usually like to see a Pilots License. However, I was able to gain access by displaying my Civil Air Patrol ID. 8) 8)
