Well now that we know about Mr. Chris' experences thought I might add mine. Well on May 10th 03 I had my first flight experence at KBKV (Hernando County) the Young Eagles program was have a free flying session and I got to go into a Cessna 150 which has two sets of controls. As thus, sence I had FS experence, I got to fly the whole filght (he did the radio and flaps I did the rest) so he showed me where the rudder peddles/brakes were and how to use them and I taxied to the runway 3 and he declared that we were takeing off. I taxi on the runway he applys flaps and we start to go and at about 60 I rotate and we are flying!!! So now he are flying at about 1,500 over Spring Hill and over my school then my house. We fly for about 30 mins then we make our way obak to kbkv and I get on runway heading and I say "You want ME to land?" and then explained that even in FS (btw it was FS 2000) I never landed but in flames. He said that he would walk me through it and so he takes his hands off and says "Here we go!" then walks me through it and I land it smoth as silk right on the the aming bars and brake and go into the parking spot and shuts off the engine and says nice job I get a cert and go home happy.

EDIT one too many zeros on alt

Ah sweet. I l paid 20 bucks for a 6 minute flight in a helo a few years back and boy was that awesome. The noise, the sound and everything. And the coolest part was that the pilot made it look so easy. But I didn't get to fly it. I once thought that I would take a single helo lesson for the heck of it, but at $250 an hour for just the chopper, I decided not to. I really want to try flying an ultrlight though.

I once had an exchange with ATC that went like this:

I was heading into a smaller airport (5M0 if anyone is interested) and was canceling flight following after a solo cross country.

Hunstville Approach, N55179 would like to cancell flight following.

N179, squawk VFR, frequency change approved.

Roger, frequency change approved.

N179, aircraft at your 12 o'clock, 2 miles, altitude unknown.

HSV Approach, no contact

N179, traffic is less than 2 miles now. (slightly higher pitched voice)

HSV APP, still no contact.

N179, Traffic is less than a mile, at your 12 o'clock (the guy is really getting worried now)

Roger HSV, no contact, I will make a turn to get away from this guy.

I flipped on all of my lights though it was in daytime and then changed frequencies before the controller had a cow. Turns out, I was overtaking a low flying ultralight who was going half my speed. It was one of those really cool ones with the enclosed "capsule" and tail boom. I would give anything to fly one of those.

Looking foreward to hearing about the R22 experience

-Ben
