In FS2004 how i do choose runways to take off and land from?
eg.I want to land on runway 24r at manchester(egcc) but always get told by atc to land on runway 6l, but i can not choose from the list to change runways from the atc menu. |

We have went through this topic once in a while...but I can't think of it right away...so writing is bound to happen
Runways are chosen by the airport command, and are decided accounting the wind conditions, sometimes the sun glare, and un-moving obstacles. So they perfer to land into the wing more than landing with the wind blowing in your back. Also sometimes, in real life if there is no wind in any direction, they look at the sun, as you certainly don't wanna land by looking sirectly at the sun if you do not have to. So to determine the active runway listen to the ATIS, and get all the weather details there...good luck.

| Baically the choose runway command will olny let you choose runways on the same heading (or near) ie you could choose 6R or 6C (if avaliable) |

| Well you should be able to get FS to use the runways by closeing the normal active through AFCAD by shutting down the runways to take offs and landings. |

| Wouldn't it be easy to go into custom weather and change the direction of the winds? 8) |

The only way that helps is by shooing away the GA AI!
I think the only way of changing default runways is by editing the AFCAD...because however hard I may try..even after chngind weather conditions, I still get 28 by the tower at VIDP. Also, it is completely dependent upon ur FP. IFR requests will get IFR enabled runways and vice-versa for VFR..Tower will not spare ILS runways for VFR traffic if there already is ILS traffic..personal opinion |
