Hehe, I guess many of you encountered a shutdown virus, correct? But did anyone figure out how it works? Quite funny and easy. Also it is easy to get rid of the popup...manually. :D

This is an example version of it, I guarantee that it will not make any permanent version on the system, once you start it, it will count down for 24 hours, and turn off the PC, the only way to shut down you comp is to reser it. You have enough time to play around. If you wish you can download it.

NOTICE: this is NOT a virus, just a one line code for examination purposes

To test and see if your AV scanner works - just because the advert says it can catch viruses is not really is reason to believe it.

There is a very well known test virus called EICAR - Network admins often test mail av with this virus.

Finally, at one point I use to test out virus scanners, and had over thousands of viruses - the test would run on a controlled environment, of course.

Nowadays, instead of checking it myself, I check other test by Virus Bulletin.

This is not a virus. This is a part of windows*, I wrote a command in a bat file, and compiled it into executable. Nothing else. This is like inoculation. (vaccene) what ever it is called.

* Program used to remotely shut down computers in the network, after they finish the process. So the process lasts one hour, you put that the compyuter shuts down in 2 hours, and go somewhere. And the computer shuts down on autopilot :D

"Definition of Inoculation, Inoculation was a method of minimising the harm done by infection with smallpox. It was the predecessor ... "

this is like that, it will NOT harm anyone, the only thing it will do is turn on a popup that says "You have 24 hours before your computer comes to a halt, use them wisel. :)" and after it counts down thos 24 hours it will shut down the comp. In any oyher case (if you shut down the comp yourself, or pull the plug like Angolano :) ) it will terminate the popup, and unless YOU start the exe again youself it will NEVER bother you again. Honestly.

Actually he was doing a FAA test for joining a VA. 8O There were sum questions even I didn't know the answers. So I sen't him that, to see how will it affect the test results. It is a fact that clearing head before a test helps the total outcome. The only problem was that he got 5% less than required to join. :( Hmmm, I don't know why he flunked, I got a 87% :D
