Friday, October 13, 1972*, a Fairchild F-227 turboprop belonging to the Uruguayan Air Force crashed in the andes.. i'm sure you know the stroy or watched the movie.. however i've flow the route Mendoza to Santiago a number of times in all weather conditions.. just wondering if any of you guys know just why did the f-227 crash? was it the Vor that failed?
as i can gather the problem arised between SRA (116.9) and ICO (114.7)
thanks...

Hi fulanito,

a rugby team right? I have read the book when I was little, but never watched the movie (incidentally, if one believes in movie, one may think troy was over in 7 days - or William Wallace sleeping with the princess who should have been a baby) :) :)

If I remember right, visibility was very poor, and the pilot miscalculated his location... come to think of it, as a child that was as good a reason as anything, but now it doesn't seem to be... also the aircraft was way off the route and I think finally caught into turbulance..

thanks for reminding me of it - it was an amazing survival test for those people.
