First, on a short flight ATC has me weaving back and forth every 2 minutes. Piper ... turn right 050, 2 minutes later Piper...turn left 340 and so on back and forth back and forth every 2 minutes. Is this normal??
Secondly, ATC tell me to maintain 3400 untill I am only 1 mile out??? I decend and it keeps telling me to maintain 3400??? Should I declare missed approach or enter a downwind pattern at this time? or is ATC hooped.
Sorry if this sounds a little odd but I have only been flying for 1 1/2 months and there is plenty to learn. Just want to know if I am doing something wrong or if ATC is.
Thanks |

Which airport were you flying to?
Sometimes ATC does that. Even if you prang the runway and are running like hell to get away from your flaming aircraft, ground control will tell you which taxiway to use...someone's got some good c r a c k in the control tower...
They do weird things sometimes...

well
the curve of the earth would make ATC tell you to weave, but not every 2 minutes.
ATC is pretty crazy sometimes.
Like when I was flying, ATC said:
Boeing 365, you are 300 below your assigned altitude
Descend and maintain FL 360.
(Read carefully)

the key to that guys comment was 300 BELOW
DECEND and maintain
this happens sometimes
everyone knows 29.92 when 18000 and above right? |

dmshakes hit the point I was trying to make...and yes I was kinda joking.
If your altimeter is not set at 29.92 then you are flying above or below your assigned altitude correct? Therefore prompting ATC to issue the instructions.
@ Maxell...that's funny!

He, it's not even close to funny, because he ATC never shuts up. Just blah blah altitude, blah blah blah flight level blah blah..... 8)
I wanted to write SHUTS, but note the first four letters of the word, the word censor failed  But still, it keeps bleeping the words that aren't even close to the word meaning cough cough :)
I got to tell you the censor works pretty well    The Rhythmosaur |

| How long did you keep ATC on duty? Maybe FS is simulating controller fatigue  |

Well, I was flying for 3 hours, and in that center (Budapest meesa thinks) I was there for an hour or a little more.

Well yes that is right but not for this situation, that def. is for metal fatigue.
What G/S was saying was mental fatigue or being tired. |

| I have the same problem with ATC making me juke back and forth all the time. It does get really annoying. About ATC making you maintain your altitude when you are 1 mile out, I have seen that before. Sometimes it is ATC being messed up, but other times they are trying to send you past the airport and setting you up for a long final, although one mile out seems really close to the airport to be a published approach. If you go to http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/index.php you can download approach plates for many U.S. airports for free. FS9 ATC seems to use these approaches. You can compare the published approaches to what you are seeing. Myself, I am thinking of starting to fly on ATSIM where I can have a REAL controller! **OOPS! Saskatchewan, Canada eh? U.S. approach plates may not help you much! I don't know where to get Canadian approach plates, wish I did.*** |
