I have an old comp with a useless Voodoo3 card that doesnt even support any texture sizes over 512x512, does not support reflective textures.
My system has a 266MHz Pentium 2. 40GB hard drive. 200RAM. Voodoo3 graphics card with DirectX 7 (voodoo aperantly doesnt work with Direct X8) and so on and so forth ...
I was wonder if i were to buy a new graphics card, would that make a big difference in the game in terms of frame rate and detail and such? if so, what card can I buy that will work on my comp and will support 1024x1024 textures and reflective textures?

On a CPU that old it would actually harm the speed of your games if you were to upgrade to a newer card. If you request more computations from it then it will slow down even more. Getting a new vid card will do that.
If you can, try to put the cash into a newer mobo/ram/cpu package. There are PIII's and PIV's out there that come with mobo's and ram for pretty decent prices. Then get the vid card to match the setup. Sorry, if you had anything but a PII the answer would have been easier...

Hey I still use one of those Voodoo3 - some games (Diablo 2) supports openGL only on 3dFx cards.. its not that bad on openGL, but doesn't fair well at all with DirectX
Hot Dog, as exxMan suggested, going with a brand spanking top of the range graphics card wouldn't really work that well... I would also suggest a motherboard/cpu upgrade... the other option I can suggest is finding an older card like Hercules 8500 series... I have one running on a twin-p2 motherboard, and is not to shabby. |

Sorry chap, but upgrading your card only, will not make a bit of difference. I will be damned if any if games will even play on that... |

Do a search on Google for the local vendors in your area and just shop around.
