| I'm gonna buy a new machine, and am wondering if it's worth buying the 6600gt with pci-express, cuz agp8x is cheaper and i could spend the rest on ram or something else. If u'r wondering, i'm gonna buy a 64 bit amd and nforce 4 mainboard too. So, suggestions? |

IMHO...go with PCIx. I've seen some cards (up here anyways) that are the same price as some high-end AGP cards yet will blow them away. The current consumer technology is PCIx and it will be replacing AGP over time. But then again, I heard Dual Slot PCIx will replace PCIx now so you will be in the 'middle' of the market again. Do some serious homework though, try a Goog search by typing in "Problems with ATi xxxxxxx" or "Nvidia 6800Ultra" and read about what others are saying. Best advice sometimes comes from somone who has one.
AMD 64bit CPU rocks, and there aren't too many programs out there that require like 45GB ram yet so invest in a good vid card.

Yeah go for PCIExpress. It is the way we are moving right now. Soon PCIx will probably take over AGP, since it is a larger bandwidth medium (although right now it doesn't really make a difference)
As for SLI (or Dual Pcix as you called it), I highly doubt it will be overtaking the market, and even if it did your PCIx card would work just fine in a motherboard that supports SLI.
SLI is very expensive since you need to buy two video cards, so I really doubt that it will become the norm anytime soon. |

| About SLI... i think the point is that you should be able to upgrade in some years without spending so much money but still getting the maximum experience. |

| Yeah I agree, but considering how most people skimp on video cards anyways, and how running SLI is very expensive, and not that well optimized, I don't see it becoming the norm for a while. Only hardcore gamers who want the best would use it. |
