I have just bought myself and brand new copy of flight sim 2002 from microsoft and four of my files wont load onto my system as the disk contains crc errors which surprises me.
The files that I need are:
scenedb/westhem/usnw/scenery
ussc
ussw
usse
If anyone can help me to get a copy of these files I would be over the moon. Because as I start a learn to fly game I always start off in the middle of a field or something and its a nightmare. Please help me guys!!
Thx loads and waiting. Cheers........... |

You can contact Microsoft and reorder defective CD's. I had the same problem myself with my FS2002 Pro Disc 2. Takes a couple of days but they get it to ya. Oviously, they will ask for registration info.
Other than that, it's a matter of copyright. MS doesn't take too well to people trading their software back and forth and it is a violation of the EULA that everyone agrees to when installing the software.
Give them a shout, they'll help ya out.

I have spoken with Microsoft and they are going to send me a new copy of the disks. Thank you for your speedy response and for helping me out in this matter. Top of the range chap.
Happy flying!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ps. Is it worth me upgrading to 2004 a century of flight or should I just stick with 2002 prof edition?
Cheers again buddy. |

NP.
If your PC can handle it...go with FS2004.

I was interested in Exxmans comment about 2002/2004.
In these forums there seems to be a lot of pilots who still use 2002 as their chosen platform, has anyone ever seen a poll of what the change over rate is from 2002 to 2004.
I bought it, loaded it, hated it, dumped it. I have tried so many times and each time I get so frustrated with it that I dump again and again and again. I would'nt mind but I have a reasonably fast system (2.4gig with 5200 ge-force 128mg and 1gig ram) .
I know that this will stir up a storm but I would like some feedback.

What exactly do you hate about it? Your gfx card is actually really limiting your full enjoyment of FS9. The 5200 on that processor will be probably be at 50% for graphics settings no? Antialiasing is a major hog for that card as well.
FS9 really is a major improvement over FS2002. The number of addons and programs augmenting it are a great indicator of its popularity. As is always the case with older versions, FS2002 will be phased out just as it's predecessors have been by newer versions.
It is unfortunate that you dislike FS9. It really is much better than FS2002. I'm sure you can find sales stats and trends on the web regarding the two versions...but the best indicator is to look at the number of addons being created for either versions.
Cheers
