|
|
Hi everyone. In midst of major FS crisis. More help needed via seperate post :(
Necessitated reformat of HD and total bottom up reinstall of FS... As part of exercise backed up 'X' gigs of files and addons onto discs. Mostly all well, except one crucial disc which seems to have been corrupted. Examples - all AI files, a/c etc. All IE Favourites - two years worth of ref urls - settings etc etc... 687Mb's in all
The symptoms. Place disc in drive. Reading light flashing at hi frequency and 'My computer ' file not opening except as blank. Closed by End Use.
The question. Can you recover files from a corrupted cd disc?
Thks!... |

Try burning it again onto another CD...slow down the rate a bit too to ensure a good burn. Or...burn it as an ISO (Image) and try to revert it back again. I think there are some freware ISO busters out there still...check into the process on their sites.
Keep trying...there are several methods we can utnilize...so we'll got through them if previous one's don't work.
Hope that helps

Hi Exxxman, thnks for reply.
The burn idea is excellent but not been able to make it work due to the mechanics of fault. You know when you place a cd in the tray the drive will attempt to read it prior to the address and info coming up in the My Computer window. If it doesn't I can't communicate with it. My present position. The cd is spinning, the 'Read light' is spinning but no 'connection'. Ok thanks for looking into this - I need a friendly voice at the moment! I'm off to look at the ISO busters! |

| Well this will sound stupid, but try a friends CD Drive. Some drives are able to read Cd better then others. For example my project for school was able to be read my bottom drive but not my top one. |
