This question reminded me about something I encountered a while back and forgot to bring up here at the time. Unfortunately, the details escape me now.

I set up a flight out of a small airport (no tower) in a mountainous area in southern California. After I got the AC set up and ready to roll, I went to chase mode to look at the route to the runway. Off the end of the departing runway was what appeared to be fog or clouds. As I took off I realized that it was a forest fire. I had no idea that there were forest fires in the default scenery. Has anyone else run across this?

I found it! :o It's at L35 Big Bear City, CA. and guess what? The fire's still burning 8O

It's kind of lame though. No flames that I could see and definitely no thermals like you would encounter over the real thing.
