When flying the scenery does not fill to the edges of my screen. It is ok for most but as you can see the outer edges are just blocks of color. Anyone have this problem? My specs are as follows.
P4 2.8 533MhZ bus
1024 MB Pc 3200 Ram
17" crt Monitor
128 MB Saphire 9200 SE Video (PCI). DELL DOESN'T HAVE AN AGP SLOT
40 gb Wesern Digital 7200 only 1/2 full.
It does it at all resolutions - 1600X1200 and 1024X768. I usually run at 1600X1200 as I found a very small difference in frame rate. I also fly with clear skies only. If I add weather my fps drops from 19 to about 8. Any comments.
Thanks again! |

I have this problem all the time because I have a 16 mb video card lol. Make sure the 'extended terrain textures' box is checked in the display settings of FS9. If it doesn't work, it may just be your video card. If you do have the strong desire to catch up with graphics technology, you can purchase another video card.
Good luck. |

| I don't know about it then. Do you consider purchasing a new graphics card? |

Go to your display/settings/weather menu. Make sure sight distance is maxxed out.

| doesn't extended terrain means it would try to load a lot more texture into the video memory? in which case, on 16MB card, should that not be Unchecked??? |

EX - The visual distance in weather is maxed out.
Rana - I have a 128mb Radeon 9200se card(PCI) only.
I think it is the video card. PCI cannot handle the volume of data? I guess I will wait to upgrade my MB. Darn, I wish Dell would have spent another nickle on their MB's to add an AGP slot.
Do they make a 256 MB PCI Video card? If so do you think it would help? Would it be the 533MHZ Bus speed? Anyways...It looks like a new system soon.
Thanks all! |

Its a combination of all of the above there mate. Yeah, wait for your upgrade. Your current system isn't capable of utilizing all FS9 has to offer.

Hi Richy,
see if this helps: locate your fs9.cfg file. then edit the following
Code: [DISPLAY]
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40
in a nutshell, this value tells FS how fast to move texture to video memory: you may want to increase it and see if that helps. |

| If I increase the number, will it degrade performance? |

HI viche12345,
it depends: as I said, this value indicates how fast FS should tranfer texture to video memory.. default value of 40 is a bit low, but I can understand why ms would set that as default. I can set mine upto 600 without any problem.
If you set it to high, FS can't transfer the texture, and you would experience struttering. |
