|
|
Suddenly, from one day on the other, my atc has gone missing..I still can get atc-text ("show atc text" is turned on), however the audio part is lacking for some reason.
I tried reinstalling fs9, but this didn't solve the problem..
Now I am hoping there is some sort of hotkey, which I accidentely pressed on the keyboard, disableing atc...
anyone any suggestions??
thanx! |

Go to your taskbar for Windows, Start>Run and type in 'dxdiag' and hit enter. Test your Direct sound settings and report back.
Are other sounds working? Updated Windows Media player? What version of DirectX are you running? Post up your system specs too please...

all the soundsettings seem to be fine; no errors indicated by the directx diagnostic..
specs:
asus A8V Deluxe MB
amd athlon 64 3000+
ATI Radeon 9700 128 mb, AGP 8x
1024 Mb memory
I have directx 9.0c and WMP 10, but haven't upgraded anything, except for some windows security updates maybe. Strange thing is all other sounds in fs9 are there, except for atc..
probably some bug in my system i'm afraid.. |

Okay...
I take it your sound settings in FS are all good? If so...locate this file and tell us what size it is...
" usenglishbiggvp " in your root FS folder...

the file is 199.829 Kb..
There is also another file in the sound-subfolder (USEnglishASOS.gvb); don't know what it's for, but this one is only 566 Kb in size..
any chance one of these files is causing this?
cheers, Jort |

The problem is in the original file. It shouldn't be that size. When you reintalled did you do a custom re and re or just a generic? If you aren't sure then reinstall FS and make sure you install all files from the voices.cab file. Those are the sound files for ATC and whatnot.
No idea what that other file is doing there. Some addon program put it there seems like.

Thanx Exx, I tried that, but it didn't work either..
Finally, I decided to do it the hard way: formatting my system drive as well as my fs9 drive; this did the trick..
Funny thing is the USEnglishbig-file still was 199 Mb after a fresh install, but after using Editvoicepack, the file now is 387 Mb..
I have to add I already tried updating the voicepack with this program, but apperently without success, since the file still had the original size..
Well, it's fixed now, so thanks anyway!
cheers.. |

Sorry we couldn't help you out with the problem their Jort. Glad to you got it running though. Obviously something was amiss with the sound settings in either FS or Xp...
