|
|
hello,
me and my buddy are making an attempt at a home cockpit. I was wondering if it is possible to put speaker(s) behind us for engines but then have somehow a speaker infornt of us making the noise from ATC. In other words, is it possible to split ATC transitions to a new speaker.
this would be better than hearing ATC from behind us!
thanks for your time

| As far as I know, all sounds emanating from the game are single source. If it were going to be possible, a completely new sound module would have to be coded to handle it. It is likely that such code would be entirely proprietary to MS and therefore not available. I could be wrong, so dont take my word for it, but I just dont see a way to do what you are asking. Besides, asking for that much processing of sound could have a big impact of framerates/game function. |

I agree with Groundsquirrel. There is only one mono source of sounds and I doubt if you can assign the ATC to just the front speakers. About a month ago, I purchased the FS Sound Environment which provides Stereo sound which I am very pleased with. 8) 8)
FS Sound Environment for FS2004
===============================
FS Sound Environment add more realistic surrounding sounds in your flight simulation experience. Product chenges and improves all default sounds of FS2004. You will be now able to hear more realistic sounds inside and outside of your plane.
By default, sounds in FS2004 comes registered by Microsoft using only one channel (MONO). FS Sound Environment converts all sounds using two channels (STEREO) at 48 kHz. The result is a more accurate effect for every sound available in Flight Simulator.
Many sounds have been totally reworked, specially engine sounds for planes used by the Artificial Intelligence to generate traffic in FS airports and skies. Turboprops, small, medium andl large Jets have now new and improved effects.
Thunderstorms and precipitations will surprise you with spectacular effect and you will turn head left or right. |

| thank you, well look into FS Sound Enviroment - google it and such. We really dont want to have ATC coming from behind us, nor do we any more want engines coming from infront of us! so if FS Sound Enviroment can split this signal, then we might be able to get some payware. Thanks for the tips guys and keep me posted if you find anything else about this !! :D |

Hi Shockerra, I once knew an IT who loved FS as much as us all here and he told me that he split the engine sound so it was coming from behind him and the ATC so it was coming through his headphones, when I questioned how he did this he said you need two sound cards, so if you could get ahold of two sound cards then there is no doubt somewhere on the internet that tells you how to do it. Keep us all posted on your project and if possible show us a couple of pictures, see how its coming along :wink:
