I just purchased a EVGA 6800 GT 256 mb AGP card from NewEgg and let me tell you... it makes the WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE IN FLIGHT SIM! I can now have all the sliders settings at full and get between 30 to 50 FPS very easily and the graphics are just unreal! I have it running on 8XS Antialiasing and 16X Antisotropic Filtering in 1280 X 1024 and it is just AWESOME! Here is the link to this awesome card if you are in the money for an AGP version. It is now on sale for $294.00 and NewEgg had it to me in 2 days! This card also comes with a lifetime warranty! How can you go wrong? You just can't if you are in the market for an AGP Card. =D>

I'm sure you're enjoying it very much, Sandpiper :D I'll get there one day.... That card's a bit steep in price, but I'm sure it's absolutely worth it to have the fps you're able to obtain. Much easier to simulate "realism" in the aircraft you're flying. I'm sure it comes in handy when you're landing in a scenery dense area. I look forward to seeing some shots from that top of the line gfx card. Be easy on us little guys with the "rinky dink", low end ATi cards, will ya?

Hey Sandpiper,

Glad you like your new card. I did the samething you did. TURN IT UP, FIRE IT UP. I set my settings to full max. Totally unreal on the difference in detail compared to my old 5200. WOW. Even better that it has a lifetime warranty.

Hope to see some of your shots soon girl.

I still get some slow down in frame rates around big cities and airports... but AI doesn't seem to bother it too much. Still working on the best settings. I can run my other games at full everything on the video card... including flight sim... but that doesn't mean it is by far the best setting to always have... you have to tweek and play with your settings to see what works best for your system. I will say this... I did a test on my old video card... it was a MSI Starforce FX 5600 256 meg... it only scored 355. This card came in at 3855!!! Bit of a difference! =D>

You will get there, we all need great cards like this and FYI... if you already were not aware of it... AGP is probably going to be out in about a year. So this card and others like it will be dirt cheap then. I was going to upgrade to PCI-X but this card ranked about the same in both versions. I just choose not to upgrade my motherboard again so soon and will do that maybe next year. BTW... you have awesome screen shots and I would never pick on you or anybody else ever! You guys are simply the best in my book! :D I was only able to get this card because my boss has been working me 6 days a week for the last 6 week ( make that 7 this weekend too   ) and getting about 50 to 60 hours a week. After the first two weeks... I logged on to NewEgg and saw it and then told my boss... give me all the overtime you can! It was way worth it even though I am way to tired to fly right now!

Its going to be awhile. I had to uninstall fs9, found some corrupt files when I rebooted everything. Had to a new install.

But I saved all my zip files. Now I am going through the loooong process of re-entering everything. Then flying to make sure nothing got screwed or corrupted. This really sucks. But am happy with the new 6600GT all the same. Just give me some time, ok. :D

Thanks very much Sandpiper for your kind words :D I just hope you can rest now, and enjoy the fruits of your labor! (not meaning children.....) Thanks also for the "heads up" about AGP. Been hearing a lot about the upcoming changes regarding AGP/PCI express. I think I'll wait for the dust to settle, and see what's left.....

My new card just died!!! I am so upset after spending over $300.00 on it. I can boot to windows but when I try to run any of my games it just gives me weird hexigon, triangle, and lines dancing all over the screen. I am so sad! I am very upset and will probably be gone again for a while for I am not going to be putting my old video card back in. I will be back on when I get the replacement. See you all very soon! 8-[ #-o

Hmmmm...sounds like artifacts. Sure it isn't overclocked too much there Sandpiper? Oh well, hope you get it up and running soon. Good luck!

Sandpiper,

I am really, really sorry to hear that. I feel for ya, I know I would be broken hearted if mine crashed. Hopefully you'll get another one real quick and not have any problems.

I took my computer to the shop last night and it worked fine there! Weird... but my friend there told me there is probably something I am connecting to my computer that is having conflicts with the video card or it could be even a power issue. My computer is on the same wall circuit as the kitchen... and he said the power drain could be causing it. I have only connected up the basics right now ( Keyboard, Mouse, Video, Audio ) and everything is working fine. I connected my joystick and it appears to be fine as well. Maybe on of my other things is the culprit. I will find out eventually... there is no piece of hardware here that is more valuable than my new video card!!!

Thanks for all of the kind words and support... you all are the greatest! 8)
