Hello,

I like the FlightSim Manager v2.8 however I have a problem with the randomizer tool. The SplashScreens I download look fine when I launch FS but the ones I make display in an wierd way (with colour) when FS is launched. I am using the required 800x600. They appear ine throughout the rest of windows though including in FS Managers preview mode.

-FlightSim Manager v2.8
-FS2002
-Windows XP home
-splash screens made with: Microsoft Picture It 7.0

DOES THIS FOR ALL MY HOMEMADE SCREENSHOTS, NOT JUST THIS ONE - REALLY FRUSTRATING HELP ME OUT!!!!

thanks,
Ross

attahced to images so you can see, actual original and screenshot of loading screen for FS2002 - downsized for upload purposes

p.s.- what happned to Dreemfleet's SSR for FS2002. The link on their website appears broken

While Rana is an esteemed member of Surclaro.com forums, you might get a little bit faster results if you posted your question to the RanaInside forum as well. Your situation may even have already been covered by a previous question/answer.

Well, lets have a go at it. First, what is the color depth of the .bmp image you are using? Is it 16bit, 24bit, 32bit...etc.?

yes, i noticed the colour depth aspect. FS Manager says "800x600 16bit" well i have 800x600 but under properties it says bit depth: 24bit. I don't know if this is it, if it is how do you change it to 16bit?

You should be able to open that particular bitmap image with your image editor and then save it as 16bit, if it asks to overwrite, then "yes". That should do it. FS does not tolerate 24bit.

You'll just have to find an editor that will save in windows 16bit, I am sure there are some fine freeware editors out there that can accomplish such a simple task. A couple that come to mind are Free Serif Software and Pixia as well as IrfanView and quite possibly others. As for myself, I use PhotoShop CS and ImageReady from Adobe, but these are quite pricey for hobby use.

And, for good measure, I put in the idea of a built in convertor when selecting an image for a splashscreen to the author of FSM. This is how features are added to software all the time. So, if you are using something, and think of an easy way to enhance the speed and efficiency of that product, service or activity, dont be afraid to pursue it.
