Just got my new system built and running Thrsday night. my speakers do not seem to work. the speakers have just 1 cable to go to the computer, but there are 6 jacks on the back of my mobo and they are: Line in port,line out port, microphone port, side speaker out port,rear speaker out, and a center subwoofer port. There is one subwoofer and two speakers(that is what i have).
Specs
Amd Athlon 64 3000(1.8ghz)
512mb RAM
128mb graphics card |

when i go to control panel an Sounds and audio devices it says No Audio Device. These speakers work on my other system. An the is no sound in fs or when i try to play a CD. I restarted the system and no luck.
OS is wnidows Xp Pro

I am assuming that your Subwoofer has connectors where you connect your two front speakers.
Therefore, please connect the one speaker wire to the connector labeled
FRONT SPEAKERS. 8) 8) |

Take the one wire that goes to the Subwoofer and plug it into the white jack that says FRONT SPEAKERS.
Did you check the Motherboard "jumpers". Sometimes you have to change the jumper to enable external speakers. 8) 8) |

| I'll try the jumper thing, but the speakers just have one big connector. |

Take your speakers to your neighbor's house and see if they work there.
I am still not clear. However, I think that you have one stereo wire that goes from the Sub-Woofer to the computer, one wire goes from the Sub-Woofer to the right front speaker and one wire that goes from the Sub-Woofer to the left front speaker. Make sure that you connect the wire from the Sub-Woofer to the connector labeled "FRONT SPEAKERS". You probably have a "cross-over" device that strips off the suub-woofer signal and send the higher frequency signals to the right and left speakers.
Can we assume that the speakers do not work with any other software based upon your statement that the Control Panel does not recognize you speakers. 8) 8) |

They work on my other computer, and my sub does not have wear it attachs
to the computer my right speaker has one cable that goes to my computer, amd i don't have the manual becuase these are about 2 years old and i lost it. And you can assume that it does not work with any other software. |

I am confused about how many wires you have. Do you have one or two wires?
If you have two wires, then connect them as follows:
Connect the sub-woofer wire to the connector called CENTER/SUB-WOOFER.
Connect the front speaker wire to the connector called FRONT SPEAKERS.
I assume that there is wire that runs from the right front speaker to the left front speaker.
Make sure that the speakers are turned on by pressing power on button , switch or whatever you have.8) 8) |

If your speakers are more than two years old and you have a new system, odds are, the system doesn't recognize your old speakers. You may have to buy a new speaker system. It just depends on whether or not your new system can detect or accept them. They could be outdated compared to your system.
The reason why they worked on your old system could be alot of reasons. The system was able to identify that speaker system/brand, of that time. Maybe they came with an installing cd. etc, etc,
I would try a new set of speakers. If that doesn't do it, you can always return it.
