I have tried many a flight on IFR but I seem to come struggle at the same point each time.
Before (or just after) take off, I will be told by ATC to "follow runway heading" and "continue climb to say 4000 feet". I put this into the auto pilot "altitude hold" panel, along with a vertical speed and the aircraft begins to climb steadily to 4000 feet. Somewhere significantly short of the specified altitude, ATC comes on the blower to tell me to descend to 4000 feet? While I am still climbing? I cannot decrease the set altitude, auto-pilot goes mad and before long they cancel the IFR. Can anybody help me solve this.
I am admittedley new to flight simulator but this is very annoying.
Many thanks

flyingblind...Welcome to Surclaro
Your problem isn't an unusual one, although it usually happens more often with AI A/C than the flyable A/C.
One possible reason for this in your A/C is that your altimeter isn't "zeroed" or reset for your location, before you take off. Try hitting the "B" key which is the default key assignment to "reset" the altimeter to reflect the correct altitude for your current location.
Your altimeter could be reading one altitude and ATC actually sees you at another altitude. |
