helo fellow pilots,
i'm a new registered on surclaro forum and need your help. i live in mauritius and in fs2004 normally mauritius intl called "plaisance intl" have only one main runway 14 and 32. so all departing flight normally is from runway 14 but in fs 2004 its always from runway 32 as requested from control tower. is there any possibilities for me to change all departure as from runway 14 instead 32. also another stuff is ils is always 14 but every time the control tower telling me to land on runway 32. it would be great to have this fixed if anyone could help me on that.

regards

pilotpowb747...

You'll need to get a program called AFCAD2. You'll be able to close RWY32 to takeoffs and landings which will force all traffic to use RWY14.

You can get AFCAD2 (v. 2.21) at the link below, second file from the top.

First open afcad.
search for your airport and open it.
double click on the runway, and you should be able to edit it

Do read the readme file. One of the best around. Teaches you a lot about FS and how it works.

pilotpowb747,

Your problem maybe simpler and also easier to correct than that. Aircraft should alway take off and land into the wind whenever possible. AI traffic will almost always do this and ATC should always direct you to the runway that is "pointed into the wind" the most. If you have all weather turned off, Flight Sim may always have traffic depart and land on the same runway. Try using your weather settings to apply some wind, say, five knots blowing from North to South. See if that does the trick.

I have had the same problem with my own local airport, Klamath Falls Airport (KLMT) (The city dropped the "International" after FS9 was beta'd, since even the air guard didn't go international, and the only carrier service is by Horizon, which only flies to and from KPDX.) I've swapped base and reciprocal ends with AFCAD, but FS9 ignores that, so unless I'm overlooking something (nothing new THERE!!), the selection is hard-wired into FS9. Anyone else with ideas?

I do know how to use this utility for building and modifying airports for the structure of lighting, gates, etc.

If you open and read the readme txt. It should tell you what you need to do.

Totally guessing here, but might be right. If you open your airport with the AFCAD, then go to the runway you want closed, all you should have to do is put your pointer on it, double click on it, and you will have a window with specs on that runway. Go down that window and you will see 2 boxes. One is closed for take off, the other is closed for landing. You will need to check both of those boxes to stop everything on that runway. Now go to the other runway and do the same as far as bringing up the window for that runway. Find the same two boxes, and make sure they are UNCHECKED, This will open that runway up for all traffic.

Sorry so long, but I am sure this is what you need to do.

EDIT BY ARDIE: You can also change your runway to an ILS also in this window/box.

True, RD, but it cancels real life variation due to wind direction. I think the point was which is the designated calm wind runway in real life and how to emulate it in FS (could be wrong - no surprise - don't know that airport). There are airports which have such limitations, KLMT being a case in point: landings are not allowed on RY 25 nor takeoffs on RY 07 due to the proximity of Stukel Mountain just east of the field, and I have ASFCADed this into the airport. However, I can't make FS9 accept RY 14 as the designated calm wind runway as it is in reality due to noise abatement - approach to 14 is over the city and near suberbs and takeoff over farms and ranches. For the curious, I have never been a pilot except for some 11 years on MSFS, but research, research, research gives up all kinds of info to the curious. Google FAA, airnav, IPilot, echoplate, etc. gets facinating getting into "As real as it gets." PS: never met a jarhead I didn't like!

BTW, when 32 is in use and the ANG are excercising their F-15s, it gets REAL loud at my house a mere mile north of the RY

hello guys,

can i also add building in afcad because mauritius intl is not the same as it is in fs9 and also the parking areas are not the same but i did notice that when i'm at parnking 1 or 3 asking tower for takeoff clearence then with the wind 0 then the tower give the clearence for runway 14. i'm going to the airport today an i will have pictures taken if weather is goo as it is raining today but i will try my best and may be post it on the forum.
