Mount Rushmore is there. Take off from Custer (KCUT) RWY 8. As soon as you clear the end of the RWY turn left heading 004 give or take a few degrees. Fly this heading for a few minutes until you get into the mountains. Mount Rushmore is on the back side of the mountains you'll be heading towards.
If my directions are of no use to you, you can zoom in on the picture I posted and get the LAT/LON coordinates. |

| There is a profile in MSFS 2004 that is called "Mount Rushmore Fly By" I believe. If you choose it, it will have you pass right by the presidents. |

| I agree Derek. Obviously MS didn't spend much time making landmarks look any better than regular objects in FS. |

I actually am going to step up to the plate for Microsoft on this one. I personally believe they did an absolute marvelous job on landmarks in the Flight Simulator. One of the things I do each time a new version comes out is go and see the different Landmarks. I have been thru just about all of the versions of the Flight Simulator... and they just keep getting better. I remember when MSFS 98 was out and I went to Mount Rushmore... it was just a black and white picture ( no relief whatsoever to it ) on the side of a rock on the hill... but at least it was there! It was that way all the way up until version 2002. I did my standard go and see the different landmarks fly by's and was very impressed to see it look more like the real thing, carved out of stone and 3D!!! Way to go Microsoft!!! I like most would love to see the Flight Simulator look more like the real world... but there is so much going into it right now to make it look the way it does. This is part of the reason frame rates are hard to achieve because of all the stuff on the ground and the detail behind it all.
Want to get a real appriciation for Microsoft's Flight Simulator Development Team... hop into a small prop job and fly low and slow and you will see more going on than you ever saw before. There are working amusement rides ( Roller Coaster and others ) at a park in California... Old Faithful is spouting off over in Wyoming... did you know that the street lamps along the highways come on around dusk and go off around dawn? Very cool effect to see when you are parked near on on the ground and you see the T & L effects.
So my hat is off to Microsoft's Flight Simulator Development Team!!! Keep up the good work and just keep making it look " AS REAL AS IT GETS!!! " |

I am afraid I'll have to second that thought. I love checking out the framestopping stuff from time to time. Occasionally during a frame stop, I will notice some new detail or scenery object that I wouldnt have noticed if I was just cruising by at 2k plus AGL.
Now...if you believed all that, then please allow me to sell you that fourth flat tire so you will have a matched set  |

| You will find many such objects in FS are ethereal, that is, not solid or just eye candy. |

Livin,
That is sad that you would want to crash into it, I mean c'mon man, it's a landmark.
