Hello, i really like to fly helicopters and i am wondering if there is an auto pilot for most of them so that someone can hover. And if there is how do you set it up? I looked at the controll and none of them really seem to work.
Basicly im asking how do you hover with little or no movement.

| Helicopters generally don't have an autopilot. The Sikorsky SkyCrane has an autopilot for hovering, and that was only for easy re-filling the water tanks. Nothing else. |

| The answer is that usually with helicopters hovering in one spot requires continous input to the controls in the real world. (Especially in aircraft with out hydraulics) 8) |

| and where did you find this nice little tut, like you said. I am interested in trying to fly the helicopter also. Flying them on FS2002 is much easier than in FS9. Wonder why? |

I have started playing with whirlybirds around June this year. I found it a lot of entertaining and certainly a little difficult. Everyone said to try to fly the default Bell first, then move on to the others, like the Default R22, then the bigger Bell helios, the Seahawk and so on. Well, two months later I can do almost anytihng I want with the R22, yet the only thing I can do with the Default Bell 206 is crash it. So I guess it is all personnality specific. And the logic for helios is a lot different then for the fixed wing aircraft. For example, I kept losing control over the Gazelle all the time, reduced sensitivity gradualy to minimum, and still had problems....then I put sensitivity to aobut 80% on the scale, and I was amaised to find myself landing on small houses on Boeing Field airport with a lot less stress then it took me to land on that big waredouse on Renton Municipal. :lol:
All tutorials usually say, do thigs gradually, take the Bell for a spin, use the Cyclic for speed, the colective for altitude, and the anti-torque for directional control....well you already know that. So all you need is the rest of the tutorial that says "practice, practice and practice" :D |
