hi
its my first post in this forum ..
i alwayz land by using flight planner and navigation system but i heard that the ATC can help me landing by telling me the alttitude i have 2 be till i land for example : when the runway is infront of me the ATC tells me that i showed be at 1000 ft and step by step it tells me to decrease my alttitude till it reachs 100 and then i land the airplane .
how can i make the ATC tells me that ???
what should i do ??
if am confusing please tell me :)
and sorry for my bad english . |

I've never heard of that..ATC give you your approach clearance and give you the approach altitude. From then on in you should control the descent and speed for that matter on your lonesome. Although, if you can learn how to use the approach hold (app) then the plane will guide itself into the airport.

lol
are you sure you are not talking about the GPWS, this is the aircraft telling you your altitude, it comes with many add-on aircraft but you can get a couple that you can install into your default aircraft, i've never personally tried it though.

| Don't forget to watch the PAPI lights or the other one... I forgot the name. started with a V or something. anyways, they are lights to help you know if your too high or too low. two whites, and two reds, your on the right altitude for approach |

| This is called a contact or radar approach. Its generally given by ATC when you report an instrument failure that you would need to shoot an approach. ATC will tell you altitudes and headings to guide you in for a safe landing (runway in sight of course). FS2004 doesn't have this feature though. I would rely on approach hold. A contact approach can be requested by the pilot if he or she finds themselves to be in IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) when landing initially under VMC (Visual Meteorological Conditions). The approach lights VASI (Visual Approach Slope Indicator). If you would like to learn more about Instrument flying go to www.whittsflying.com and click on IFR topics. They have alot of information about what a pilot should know. Good Luck. |
