I am beginning to get tired of this old monitor (its an about 10 years old 17 inch Eizo with max resolution 1280x1024), it has no brightness, it's got a row of dead pixels, the eye-saver layer is almost peeled off and it's really huge! I would like to buy an affordable (around 300$) 19 inch flat crt, but i have no idea whatsoever what to choose... any comments on Your display? or You friend's? or something else? all help appreciated.

Been scoping out displays for a while and seen some good some bad. Me personally...? I use, and will continue to use nothing but LG monitors. Great products, reliable and good value for the money. They aren't cheap, but you really do get a good product for the buck. Easy to calibrate, setup and warranty is second to none.

I do agree with Exx there. Although personally I am rather happy with my own Time monitor that I got with my computer, why dont you go along to your local computer store and ask them to recommend you a good monitor but may I stress that these guys are SALESMEN, they are there to make SALES, they will sell you any old cheap crap, stay aware dude!
