When i start fs9, this appears (shot1)
i click Yes, and everything seems to be fine except for (shot2)
the aircraft preview screen is black. it stays black even if i select a different plane. Everything else works 100%.

a) the aircraft config is bad. Check out whether the
model=
and
sim=
are both linked to the correct model and air file folders.
b) go to fs9.cfg file and add this:
Code:
[oldmodules]
fssound.dll=1

omg i cant find my fs9.cfg anywhere :| that could be a problem eh?
oh and i dont see ANY aircraft in the preview, and i guess manually checking out every plane would be a pretty killing task.

no, it's located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\
you must have the "show hidden files and folders" option turned on |

darn, upper case .CFG. okay i'll look into it.
thanks, yeah, it fixed the error message problem. I'll now check a plane .cfg for errors.
okay, done that (checked a cessna); looks okay to me, but it isn't.

Hey,
The first error, the 'black screen' is a common issue with the latest Nvidia drivers. I have that exact same problem, AFAIK there's no fix for it at the moment.
Pressing alt+enter to go into windowed mode should show the aircraft in there, it worked for me, but only temporarily. |

Here is what you need to do. Add a new section to your Fs9.cfg, here is mine at the moment:
[Oldmodules]
FSSound.dll=1
fsflightmax.dll=1
SOARRec.dll=1
SimSound.dll=1
You may or may not have the other gauges in your sim, but I am certain there is one in there you will instantly recognize. That's right, FSSound.dll, and it is because there is a handler in the FS code for older code (within limits). You will find several older guages that cause the error you received as you download more aircraft that may be converted from Fs2k2, or even not converted, as well as some of the CFS2 birds. |

Hey Myth,
Had a *simular* problem a few weeks ago. As well as others. Go back to your fs9.CFG, and see if you have everything exactly the same as below:
[STARTUP]
DEMO=0
LOADSIM=1
LOADWINDOW=1
SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1
STARTUP_DEMO=
[GRAPHICS]
If so, sorry, but you might have a trojan horse in there. This thing can only be wiped out with a reinstall of FS9. Also, this thing could have come from anywhere and be anywhere.
One last hope, in your [Oldmodules], make sure you have TERRAIN.DLL added to it.
Good luck Myth.

still nothing, but thanks Ardie. Trojan? Now how on earth could that have sneaked in? I use AVG, have a router firewall and all ports closed. XP SP2. And i know how to handle files with caution. Well... i will scan the place, but i must point out that i just installed new Nvidia drivers.

Stephen is correct...revert back to your old drivers.
Trojans can sneak in many ways. Doesn't matter what kind of AV/*.ware you have as their are new one's out everyday. We can only protect ourselves against those that have fixes so essentially, you have to get bit by the bug first before anyone can create a cure for it. Follow the leader method really.
