Is it possible to see the Aurora Borealis in FS9 and if so then how?

Yes, it is possible. Fly around Alaska/Canada at night. Those are two areas where I have seen it.

I seen it at FL32 over Moscow 8O

I would guess that was probably an error with the program however.

Is it part of fs, or do you have to download an effect?

Sorry, excuse my ignorance, I've never really researched it and thought it was a phenomenon only found on the poles

A very nice effect indeed

Even better if you want to find the aurora...

http://www.gi.alaska.edu/cgi-bin/predict.cgi

Seems fs9's weather also picks up the aurora's forcast as well :)

As far down as Scotland it is visible and I've seen it in Canada, fantastic experience. In FS just fly anywhere above 60 degrees lat and climb to over FL150 and it's visible everytime you go looking for it as long as it's night lol. I still haven't seen the southern lights though in FS.
