When playing a 3-D game (FS9) about 3-5 minutes into flight the game drops to a low frame rate, freezes with sound, and then total lock-up. I have reinstalled about 3 times. The third time worked then didn't. I do have addons. The funny thing was that it had worked before.

Specs
AMD 3000+ 1.8ghz
512 RAM
BFG 7800 gt oc
windows XP pro

could my settings be to high???

Actually, it sounds like a resources traffic jam. What else is running while you are playing FS? While you do have a respectable machine, it probably would gag on more than 25 processes, so check it out.

so if i had more memory i may not have this problem? I have 10+ more than 25 processes. I'll probably spend $88.50 on 1gb dual channel memory, meaning i'll have 1.5gb.

After FS9 crashes, do get a box asking to report an error. If so, fly again. When it crashes, what do you do EXACTLY. Turn it off ???, reset ??? Need to know, I might have an idea why, but need some info and help from you.

The next time FS9 freezes/crashes on you, do this please.

Wait about a minute or two before doing anything. Then, hit , *CTRL + PAUSE/BREAK*. this will cut you out of FS9, and you WILL get an error box. DO NOT HIT RESET. When you get the error box, you find highlighted in blue *Details*. Click this, and see what the error is and let us know.

I am experiencing the same problem. FS9 will freeze for no particular reason and requires resetting to correct. This happens despite closing all but essential running processes. Once reset I have no further problems with that session. I will try Ctrl + Pause/Break and report back with any error message.
It would be nice to get at the bottom of this.

Sorry to tell you this but it has nothing to do with your memory...but your video card. Try another driver, or run a diagnostic on DirectX by going START/RUN from the taskbar and type in 'dxdiag' in the menu box.

OK 121,

I got you to where we needed to be to help us. BUT!!! You have alot of problems as Exx pointed out. More than I have seen.

You can get updated drivers for your g-card from whoever made it. Just find ( google ) the manufacturers name and look for drivers for your card.

As for the DirectX thing, ask Exx how to get what you have now, and how to get the updatted one if need be. DUH, Exx already posted how to find what version you have.

But have to agree, it is somewhere, something to do with your graphics card or set-up

I just got a WINDOWS ERROR now.

NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEM

c:\windows\system32\services.exe

It then gave me only 1minute to write this stuff down so some things may not be spelled correctly.

I had my drivers updated, and have Direcet X 9 . Also you could call me Ryan.

That is a critical error...you got more problems than salmon at a fishing derby. Take it to a shop asap.
