I am upgrading my system to:
motherboard:
Gigabyte K8U Socket 754 MB w/ Sem31007 CPU
with 1600 mhz bus speed
1 gigabyte low latency pc2700 memory
video card:
XFX GeForce 6600 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X / Dual DVI / TV Out / Video Card

I was just wondering if anyone knew how well this kind of system would perform in fs2004. I am upgrading from a
motherboard:
Amd atlon xp 1800+
1.16 ghz.
1 gigabyte ram
video card:
Geforce 3

If possible, go with a socket 939 motherboard with PCIe bus. That way you can go dual CPU when you want to upgrade with no other upgrade required, and purchase a PCIe card cheaper than a highend AGP card. Also, try to buy the fastest top quality ram you can. The cheap stuff is more trouble than it's worth. Everything else looks fine.

Well...guess we'll find out on Thursday... ;)

Semprons are kinda like Celerons. Not the preferred choice of gamers. But you never know...maybe you can overclock it and pull some more juice out of it. Careful, doing so voids the warranty though...

Let us know how it turns out for ya.

Whatever dude I don't think u know as much as u think u know. Just because u might have an awesome system that doesn't mean that everybody elses systems are pieces of *beep*. My system is gonna run great with a sempron 3100 and thats that.

Relax Chris. Disarm the nukes. The salesman does have to earn a commission or wage so yes, they have to sell you something. Otherwise, why are they there? Semprons are a value-priced CPU. You want hardcore specs on it and benchmark results I can give them to you. Semprons are the minority when it comes to gaming and if you check around various tech forums you'll find out why...cause thats what I did.

I don't know what thread you are reading but in this one, you asked a question and I gave you an answer straight up. Also asked you to post up results of your new rig once up so the rest of us can learn and see real-world results of your purchase and take that information to aid us in our next purchase. I made no mention of my rigs, just responded to your questions regarding yours based on experience. Relax. I'm sure your Sempron will do well, and I hope you hit frame rates of 40 average with FS fully loaded but you know what? I already know the answer to that. I personally wouldn't have suggested a socket 754 with a Sempron to my friends or clients simply because they would kick the bleep out of me for suggesting an inferior system.

Next time, if you ask for advice or tips/tweaks, don't jump on people that are trying to suggest better alternatives or ideas. Yeah you are right...I don't know squat. I spend on average 2-4 hours per day online with people from this forum and others advising them as to what the best system to purchase for their needs is...for FREE. I haven't gotten a complaint yet. Wonder what you would say if I told you my current rig is more dead than your new one...?

Chill out man. Just trying to help.

I hear ya. Let me tell you something...if you post back here and the results aren't that great...I'M GOING TO BE *beep*. Not at you...but the salesperson /shop! You worked hard for that money, and to see someone take it from you and provide a mediocre product service always gets me going.

$400 bucks eh? Can you return it? :) I'm serious...get you into a smoking system with that much cash...

Hope it works out for ya Chris.

TOTALLY agree. Might as well play Super NES...lol.

Do you know, or can you find out that model the CPU is? Probably give you a couple of tweaks for it to get it screaming. The core makes a big diff. A 2500/2600 Barton or T-bred core will run faster than an Athlon 3200... ;)

Keep us up to date on how she goes please...and don't hesitate to ask for tweaks and tips. We got a lot of people here who really know their stuff and go out of their way to help!

Ahhh...cheers. Palermo core. Better memory controller. Good stuff. You would have cried if it was a Clawhammer as that wouldn't work too well with your memory modules.

Thanks.
