Mods move posts to relevant forums for the reasons:

a. To allow the pros that haunt the particular forums to respond to your questions with a higher probability of a correct answer
b. To keep the forum organized
c. To deter people from posting irrelevant questions in the FS2004 forum just to get immediate attention

Call it housekeeping. Now...back to the member's question..any takers?

This happens when I arrive at a airport, and they take me extremely far like in my pic (The tower is where O'hare is. ATC took me so far, and made me fly so long, that I ran out of fuel, and had to make an emergency landing at a diffrent airport, I had olny enough fuel for that flight.). They canceled my IFR, and I have to restart IFR while in the air, and that is what happens. Is this like a FS glitch? And I start at a gate on every single one of my flights.

when setting up your Flight Plan, have an idea where your target airport is going to be in relation to the airport you are starting at...... starting airport is KCHS (Charleston, South Carolina)... ending is KATL (Atlanta, Georgia) .... do not set it up as you start at a gate. Start at one of the runways.. then ask ATC for a departure to the WEST..

ATC will usually still make you take off with "the active" but since you know KATL is WEST of KCHS... then you should have an idea of which way you need to go.... somewhere along the lines of Flight Heading 270 +/- a few degrees to get on your IFR heading... if you still have problems with ATC telling you to go the wrong way, or NOT telling you to "turn left to heading 270, climb and maintain 1 1,00." then there is the possibility that somthing is messed up with the ATC file in FS9 itself... might have to uninstall and reinstall.

If it is happening exclusively at your destination airport, contact that ATC and ask for directions before you get there to make sure you are where you are supposed to be.
i have had ATC always tell me "us air 4687, you are cleared for departure to the west on runway 15" ***BUT HELLO!!!! ...15... IS TO THE EAST!!*** sooooo you have to physically know or have an idea where your IFR path is, and you go there yourself.
