The Hat Switch should be assigned to: 8) 8)

VIEW (PAN)

FYI:
Here are my assignments (just my 2 cents)
1 View (Cycle)
2 Reverse Thrust (F2)
3 Look Back
4 Flaps Decrease
5 Brakes
6 Flaps Increase
7 Trim Up
8 Trim Down
9 Panel (W)
10 Spoilers (/)

I'll see your bet and raise you two devices. I love using the Nostromo for ATC response. However, I also use the following two devices which are fantastic:

http://www.desktopaviator.com/index.html

Avionics Panel - MODEL # 1010 - For all you die-hard Flight Simmers, we've Added FULL TOGGLE SWITCH Operation to our MOST Popular Cessna Panel. Now you have toggle switch access to your Fuel Pump, Landing Lights Strobe, Pitot Heat ect. The MODEL #1010 is the Most Elaborate; the Most Realistic and the LEAST Expensive Avionics Panel on the Internet Today! STEP-Up to the 1010; You'll be Glad you did.

Avionics Switch Box - MODEL # 1020 - HERE We Go AGAIN! The Next in a line of Avionics Panels from Desktop Aviator; the 1020; is NOW AVAILABLE. The 1020 Is a Panel containing 8 Programmable Toggle Switches with associated GREEN LEDs. Flip a switch, the LED turns on indicating activation. Easily plugs into an unused USB Port and just as EASY to Program. Just run your copy of Microsoft's Flight Simulator FS98, FS2000, FS202 or FS2004. Enter the 'SETTINGS' then 'ASSIGN' Window. The 1020 can be programmed to perform any available FS Function. The BEST part, Add As Many Switch Panels you wish to your cockpit. Just add your own Switch Labels and You're On Your WAY! Can be used with ALL
Aircraft Configurations; From the simple Piper Cub to the more complex Boeing 777 and Airbus A380, Mooney, Piper ect.

Don't give up yet. You'all should consider this inexpensive option for programming multiple "Switch Assignment". These two panels make flying much more enjoyable.

FYI: Here are the options which I have programmed. Instead of using the default settings for the Model 1010, I created my own overlay and chose my own "assignments". Both devices are super simple to program.

Model 1010
Ignition
ATC On/Off
Carb Rich
Landing Gear
Zoom In
Zoom Out
Knee Board
Nav/GPS
Shift Z

Model 1020
Auto Pilot On/Off
Heading Hold
Altitude Hold
Speed Hold
Nav 1 Hold
Approach Hold
Top Down
Push Back

Please forgive me for refreshing one of my old posts. However, I feel that this is a great time to bring up this topic one more time.

As many of you have already seen, FSX offers us many more buttons and switch settings. I strongly urge you to check out the Desktop Aviator website. I have improved the quality of my Flight Simulator experience greatly since installing these two switch panels. I am even considering purchasing a third panel (Model 1020). 8) 8)

Also, there's a button with a label named : "Beacon/Strobe". Shouldn't there be 2 buttons? As the strobe should not always be turned on like the Beacon should?

But else, very nice panel.

You made some good points about the Model 1010 not being "certified" for FSX. This only means that the "default" switch settings do not match FSX.

Please remember that I chose not to use the "default" settings for the Model 1010. (See my notes above). Instead, I elected to reprogram the switches (as simple as programming your existing Joystick or CH Products Yoke). After programming the switches, I created a template via Microsoft Excel. This template concept gives me the ability to change the setting as often as I want to. After I experiment a few more days with FSX I will probably change them one more time because of the larger selection of commands that are available in FSX. 8) 8)
