This is a two part question.
1....
I am thinking about FSX. I'm wondering if I should just upgrade to FS2004 and wait until the bugs are worked out. I'm running FS2002 on AMD Sempron 2400+ w/512 M ram, 80 gig HD (aprox 75% avail.), MSI 5500 vid card w/256 MB ram onboard, and XP home OS.

2....
I seem to lose glide slope on the VOR at times. Especialy after first landing if I taxi to a gate or parking, shut down the aircraft, restart the aircraft, taxi to the active, take off, fly the pattern, and return to land. It doesn't matter if I'm running squak box or the FS ATC.
Any suggestions?

Answer to 1:
You will be able to run FSX on that machine, but you will get poor performance. The AMD Sempron processor was not designed for gaming. Also, the 5500 is old technology and will not display the advanced graphics FSX has to offer (water effects, light bloom, self-shadowing). You need a fast graphics card with Shader Model 3 in order to experience FSX fully.

Answer to 2:
Have you tried re-tuning your VOR? (Really, I'm not that good with aviation. So I'm not sure if this answer makes sense. I hope the answer to #1 is good though. LOL!)

Thanks viche12345, I will try the third solution lol. I'm sure the speed has a lot to do with the problem. After posting the last, I realized that the problem started after I downloaded Squakbox (speed thing again?). I'll uninstall it and try that. Thanks again.

LOL, hi Giega...Viche's 'third' solution is his 'signature' in these forums and displays at the end of all his posts.

I run FS2002 reasonably on a P3 667, 512m, Radeon 9250 w/256m video memory. (With most sliders maxed.) FS9 (2004) isn't so good on this rig, but would be pretty reasonable on yours. You should get used to the idea of playing with FS settings for a few nights to find out what the balance between performance and eye candy is...there's a bunch of advice all over the good flight sim forums (start here) as well, to help you tweak FS to suit your needs. An article or two from Microsoft also, if you dig through their FSinsider site. have fun and best of luck.

Thanks harkonnen. I am now running FS9 (2004) and it's great. I've got some tweaking to do, but for the most part, I'm real happy with it. Thinking about getting a yoke and rudder pedals. FSX will have to wait until I build a new 'puter. Will check other info. you suggested. Thanks again!
