To be honest, you're not going to get even tolerant graphics on that configuration. To boost frame rates, you're going to have to dial down your graphics settings. Even if your processor speed is way above the minimum requirement, the graphics card and the RAM will still bog you down.
With a card like that, the computer's probably relatively old and I wouldn't spend money to upgrade it; it won't be worth it. I would start saving up for a new computer, instead of saving to buy upgrades for your current computer. |

Hmm. That will definetely make performance better. The only thing that may still slow down your computer is your CPU. As long as that's okay, you can probably get frame rates around 30-40 on medium high settings.
Just make sure the RAM you bought is the right type (DDR, DDR2, etc.) and that the video card fits in your motherboard bus (PCI, AGP, PCI-Express). |

| It's a matter of experimenting with all the buttons and sliders on the FS 'Settings'/Display page. Sounds like the Video adapter on your old rig is an on-board chip, and with a tiny amount of RAM, you won't get much eye candy running without your sim turning into a slide show. Hint: If you hover your mouse pointer over the display headings in that display settings page, a little description of that function pops up, and yes, most times it says ' increasing this setting may decrease performance'. Two ways to approach your dilemma...start with all the sliders maxed and back them off to increase performance...or start with your sliders at zero, or the lowest settings, and turn them up 'til the slide show starts (poorer framerates). If the slide show starts with all the settings low already, fear not....Xmas isn't far away, and you will be blown away by your FS once you have some decent gear running and have learned to tweak your settings a bit! |

| I used to have the Radeon 9200 and it performed reasonably well. Definitely get reduced size cloud textures and keep AI traffic at or below 75%. For better frames when in multiplayer mode, turn aircraft reflections off. Finally, if using multiple hard drives, it is best to have FS on a different drive than the system ( C: ). |

| Does FS2002 just freeze up? Do you get any error messages? There might be a common problem with server and router configuration relationships, but I don't know of these problems in FS2002, just FS2004. |

| You would have to also know whether the game you are trying to connect to is 2k2 restricted. Not all servers allow 2k2 as it can impact data packet rates under certain conditions. |

| Did the session show as being active? How many pilots were allowed for the session? Sometimes people will limit the number of pilots or observers to help their bandwidth or framerates. |
