ok here's a solution to your problem, go to
www.Xplaneupdate.com and download the xplane update program, it's good for up to 18 megs, after that they want to charge yo $.99 cents for the use of the program, this program will scan x-plane and look for problems and update files as well. it does work...
hope this helps, otherwise go to the Microsoft.com page and look for info on the Microsoft visual C++ or go to your start button and choese windos update and see what they have to offer.
