|
A7N8X-E Main Board
AMD Athlon XP 2.6
XP Pro SP2
1 G Ram
ATI 7500 64 Meg dual head
GeForce FX5200 256 Meg dual head
4 monitors all set to 1024 x 768 x 32
FS9 settings to 1024 x 768 x 32
I found no reference to this problem. Sorry if I missed it.
After all this time using FS9 my background viewer suddenly shows a totally black screen. I messed with it a couple of weeks then downloaded and installed a new background for it. Made no difference. I did nothing to or with this file before it began its new vendetta against me. I know the planes I normally fly but I still would like to see them before I choose them. Anyone help?
Thanks alot,

First, have you recently installed any new drivers for your Geforce GFX card?

And, is "wait for vertical sync" turned off in your ATI settings?

Try this first.
Reduce your AA to 4x. If you have an Nvidia card, that is your problem. Anything higher than that will give you your black box.

No new drivers added or changed in months. Just started all by itself. I did change the MIP Mapping to 8, then back to 4 on the GForce card but it has been at 4 for a long time. Is this the "AA" you are referring to, RD?

Never heard of a "vertical sync" before Groundsquirrel. Had to do some checking. Yes, vertical and horizontal are both turned off. You tried hard to help me once before in Feb 06 (Silly Lines on 172) so I knew you weren't just pulling my leg even though it sounded like it. I just have more to learn.

Mip mapping and "AA" are different. AA is Anti Ailising. You want that at 4x or below. Both on FS9 and your card settings.

AA is, and was, turned off. I didn't think you meant Anti Ailising because I only see "Off" and "On"in FS9. I see it now in the ATI specs and it was on 2. Another idea, Please?

When was the last time you shut her down cold, including unplugging it from the wall for a good fifteen minutes. Sometimes a good degaussing cures a lot of glitches.

40 minutes didn't do it either, Groundsquirrel. Why is it always the simple silly things that get to us?

Which monitors have what GPU running it.
Lets say monitor 1&3 are ATI, and 2&4 are Nvidia. Need to know which one your using as the primary monitor.

OK, RD, You have narrowed it down. My monitors are 1, 2, and 4 (left to right) with 3 above 4...for GPS. 1 and 3 are Nvidia and 2 and 4 are ATI. 1 is primary but when I open FS it comes up in 2 apparantly because I dragged it to 2 before I shut it down a long time ago. (I do something silly like look straight ahead when I fly) When I boot FS and drag it back to 1 the background shows. I can live with this if need be but I would like to boot looking straight ahead like I have always done. Does this shed a light somewhere?

Save your profiles, in FS rename your fs9.cfg to something like fs9.cfg.old. As for the video processors, I believe there is a utility to save user profiles. Then reset by selecting the default buttons. Then do a reboot and restart FS, at that point I believe your views should be defaulted and you can set up your panel views again. At the very least, you will have your original settings to revert to if unsuccessful.
