First, sorry for my spelling errors, but I'm too eager to shout out :P

I did it, I flew for real!!!!!!!!!!

My dad picked me up @ my house about 9.30 in the morning. We drove to Karup where the glider club is located. When we arrived the members were sitting in the club house and getting the briefing. The weather wasn't perfect for soaring (about 20°C, blue sky with some very high cloudlayers and a little wind), but a lot of members were met up anyways. We walked inside the club and watched the very last part of the briefing, the plane distribution. After that we walked over to the big hanger. About 7 gliders were stored here. 2 gliders were taken out on the apron , OY-SBX and one more. They got checked (airbrakes, rudder, alirons and instruments) and after that a tractor with rope came and started to drag the glider down the runway while a guy held one of the wingtips, simple to stabilize the plane. In the mean time a truck with a winch drove to the opposite end of the runway. The runway was a big grass field, 1100meters, surrounded by a little trees, fields and hills. On the right hand side on the main grass runway (without numbers, lights etc. Only a lot of short grass) a little runway for the motor gliders was made. It had lights and numbers and was also made of grass. The tractor pulled the glider down the main runway while the guy still held one of the wings. A car with the wires for the winch drove by and stopped @ the end of the runway. We made it to the end too. The tractor then drove back to get another glider while we waited. A van with radio equipment joined us in the waiting. The radio equipment should be used to communicate with the guy in the truck with the winch. Finally the tractor arrived with the other glider and we were ready. The instructor opened the canopy on the 2-man glider, OY-SBX. I was told to put a parashute on my bag. The strings had to be pulled in tight, so it was good fastened to me. D#&%, my voice did almost turn light, as the parashute strings almost squezzed my f&%¤#"! balls! The instructor said, that he wouldn't use a lot of time to tell me how to use it since it could only be used above 300meters...and we should ONLY go to 300 = It wouldn't make a difference to not wear it!
Anyways, I was instructed on how to climb into the glider and what the different instruments were for. I, of course, knew it from FS! There was a VS gauge, airspeed gauge, altimeter, radio (NOT digital), turn cordinator and some kind of sound equipment to indicate if you are climbing or decenting due to the termals. A stick and rudder pedals.

BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***DRUMM ROLL***

My videocams battery died!!!!! GOT DAMMIT!!!!!!!!

The instructor jumped into the backseat while I was infront and the canopy was closed. The radio equipment in the van disn't work we found out, so a guy waved with the gliders wings to indicate, that we were ready for the towing. We feld a little jer and 3 seconds after we climbed with the same VS as a F-16!! At 300meters aka 2000ft the instructor pulled 3 times in a little yellow handle to release the wire, which gently feld down on the runway. I got a little pressure in the ears when we climbed, but it dissapeared fast. Wow!! It was amazing to soar over the landscape! We could see all the filds and hills and houses! And the horisont!! The instructor told me how to turn the plane a little (first yaw it and then, while still yawing, turn a little to the same side with the stick). I did it and clibmed/decented a little). It was amazing!!! The only sound was the wind outside! The sun heated the cabin, but I didn't care! I could look right up, down and to all the sides!! It was so amaszing!! Suddenly the instructor in the backseat asked me if I wanted to pull some G's? Of course I would, so we dived heavy, then climbed really fast!! Aww!!!! I felt like I was weightless and lifted a little from my seat!! Then we turned a very tight turn, almost vertical!! I looked to my right and saw the ground right down!! We circled a little more and then turned on final @ 110meters. On short final we passed some trees and then the instructor deployed the speed brakes and touched gently down on the field!

After that a journalist came and interview me, will be in the radio tomorrow!

It's impossible to descripe the feeling of gliding!!!!

great fun isnt it, i've got another chance soon to have my second flight. in the UK Air cadets ( Air Training Corps) we get 3 gliding induction courses, introduction to gliding. each GIC you do, the more launches you recieve.

gic 1 - 3 launches
" 2 - 5 launches
" 3 - 7 launches

once these gic courses are finished, you then have the opportunity to apply for a gliding scholarship. through the scholarship you get to obtain your gliding wings and finally fly solo. ill be applying soon.

what ever you choose to do in the real aviation world, good luck with your endeavors.

all the best :D

Yes BrainLicker, it's the best fun I've ever had, even through it didn't last very long!!

I can apply for a sholarship right now, and I will soon do it!!
We then get practical training (where you fly) in the summer and therory in the winter. I should be able to do my solo after about 90 starts.

All the best luck to you too, and I'm looking forward to hear about your courses!! :D
