Hello,

I have just installed Windows Vista Ultimate a few days ago and I noticed there is no sound at all. Apart from not having MS Word (I can live without it) and Adobe Acrobat (I can live without it too), but having no sound is something I canNOT live without. It tells me that I need to install drivers, but when I install it it tells me I am up to date and it won't install.

THat does not seem to be the solution. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Captain El :?: :?:

P.S. Oh, and also to mention, it tells me its the NVIDIA nForce Audio Processing Unit. But when I downloaded their drivers, the installation papers were too technical and involved booting the Vista installation DVD and involved pre-Vista-installation RAID management..

what the heck is all that supposed to mean??

Is your card Vista compatible? Is it onboard or not? Did you try uninstalling then installing the drivers again?

patience young padowan. you are now a soldier in the driver wars. we've been through this before. be also diligent and report your system configuration and exact vista issues to the hardware vendor as well as microsoft. all will be well eventually, keep the faith.

It told me to get Vista drivers for an nVIDIA nForce Audio Processor, and yes, my sound card is compatible with Vista...

But what I also have is Realtek. And when I googled Realtek for Vista sound drivers, I downloaded that and now I do have sound! :D

YAY!!! Problem solved..
