|
|
This is my case. It is a Rosewill TU-155. As you can see in the picture, this case features a side air duct. I found out from the reviews that it is possible to mount a 70mm case fan onto the air duct.
Is it more wise to buy a 70mm to 120mm adapter? Or would I be better off using some type of adhesive to stick a 120mm case fan on the plexiglass? |

| Size isnt everything. You would get a fan that is designed for that opening size as a factor of the the exhast side of the housing. From there its more a matter of the inlet shape and fan blade design as to ultimate volumetric efficiency. Next, motor power/wattage will make a big difference on airflow. If you can live with a little noise you can get a 70mm fan that can flow as much as some of the 120-150mm fans. The rule is smaller/more powerful=more noise, bigger/slower=less noise. Mod case accordingly, that is all. |

| So I will be better off just getting a 70mm fan. Thank you GS for the advice. |

Hold on a second.
I purposely cut a 120mm hole in the side of my case, to install a 120mm fan. It is less than 12 inches from me. I hear nothing, but can feel the heat being extracted. I also cut a 5x5 hole in my desk, so the air could escape easily, and not flow around the case. Since my case is only open in the desk at the front, I had to cut a hole in the desk side. You can't see it, but feet are really happy during the winter.

| Maybe he didnt want to butcher his cadillac. The ultimate setup I have ever seen was a window type air conditioner that had a home made manifold piped down to the tower box with an exhaust duct piped away from the desk. |
